Oliver Stone or Spike Lee?

Two of the most polarizing contemporary directors...

Who is your choice?

Stone for his movies exploring the 60s era.

Tough call, but Spike Lee has a film in my all time top 5 with "Do the Right Thing" and I can't even think of an Oliver Stone film for a top 10.

Stone; I loved his takes on the various presidencies with JFK, Nixon, and W.

Spike Lee. While I don't always agree with his opinions, his films are some of my all-time favorites.

For me, it comes down to Do The Right Things vs. JFK, and JFK wins.

JFK is in my top 10 of all-time. I really love his vietnam trilogy, Talk Radio, Salvador and Nixon.

My favorite Lee films are Do The Right Thing, 25th Hour and Clockers.

Stone gets the nod.

Re: Oliver Stone or Spike Lee?

Stone's stretch from 1986 through 1997 is one of the strongest runs by a director ever:

Salvador (1986), Platoon (1986), Wall Street (1987), Talk Radio (1988), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), The Doors (1991), JFK (1991), Heaven & Earth (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994), Nixon (1995), U Turn (1997)

11 consecutive well made, impressive movies in a 12 year stretch. Robert Richardson was a major factor as well.

Stone gets my vote all the way.

I like "Do Tha Right Thing" more than any of Stones films, but I like more of Stone's films than Spike's, so I'll vote for Stone.
