Lost Season 3 on Bluray - December 11th?
Despite Disney's denial, Amazon has it up for preorder.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000TFINY6?...89&camp=211189 Take it how you will. |
At <$80 shipped with the 10% off, it's not a terrible price, but it's not particularly low.
So far, Heroes is the only TV set with near-realistic pricing. |
^ Smallville and Nip/Tuck both have good pricing, better than Heroes.
|
Not bad. $80 or so for 5 Blu-Ray discs seems fair in comparison to Blu-Ray movies. Hell, at that price its like buying two Fox movies on Blu-Ray!
Day 1 purchase for me. Hopefully Fry's will have this at the $70 or so level. |
At that price it doesn't matter. I'm not paying $70 for a series on any format.

I would have bought Season 1, but I'm not starting with Season 3. Hopefully they will follow up with Season 1 relatively quickly. |
I'm happy with the regular discs at under $40. I can't justify it for double when all I'm really interested in is the special features and probably a marathon rewatching a few years after the conclusion of the series.

This is one series where price is not a factor for me to purchase.
|
I have a ton of TV box sets and I think Cosmos, Planet Earth and The Planets were the only sets I paid more than $40 for a season of out of 200+ sets. I have no problem waiting an extra year or three for a deal.
$39.99 is going to be my limit on HD TV box sets. If that means I rent Lost Season 3 and Sopranos so be it. I'm happy we are getting these series in HD, but $129.99 MSRPs are not going to fly. |

I will not pay double ($59.99 SD vs. $129.99 Blu-Ray MSRPs) no matter how much I love a show. Heroes isn't quite as bad, but it's still not great ($59.99 vs $99.99 MSRPs).
There isn't that kind of price difference with movies, so I'm not sure why it's like this for TV shows? For instance, the 300 2-disc special edition has the same MSRP as the Blu-ray version, and they share all of the same features (with the BD movie being in HD, of course). |

So far, Heroes is the only TV set with near-realistic pricing. These HD season prices are getting absurd--just when I was getting used to being able to get a season of a show on DVD for $20-$30! Before it was pretty must just HBO and BBC that were way over-pricing their TV sets. |

Before it was pretty must just HBO and BBC that were way over-pricing their TV sets. My wife also bought Smallville Season 5 for $39.99 and that was really pushing the limit of what I will pay. I love the Sopranos, but $64.99 is the cheapest I have found for the HD set so I will just wait or rent on that one. |
Was December 11th always the release date for the SD/Blu-Ray releases of this season?
Maybe I got confused but I thought it was coming out much earlier. I'll probably just pick up the SD discs. The BD discs are nice, but too rich for my blood. |
The reason it's coming out so late is because it's trying to coincide with Season 4 which is set to begin in January '08.
|
Friday Night Lights is only $4 more for the HD-DVD set. If I bite on the 360 add-on or the A2 in the next couple of days, I'll have to change my preorder.
|
^ There is no Friday Night Lights HD DVD set for the TV show. You're probably thinking of the FNL movie on HD DVD.
Anyway, the art for the BD version is up at TVShowsonDVD and Amazon. I gotta say, the blue/green mix is pretty ugly. I hope this is just a slipcover and they use just green for the actual BD. |
