Damn, so it looks like only Another Stakeout is going on Blu-ray... Hopefully Buena Vista still owns it and plans on releasing it on BD in the future.

It doesn't surprise me that they're going the bargain Blu-ray route with these titles as they did the same thing with these titles on DVD. Almost all of them when they finally saw a DVD release had an SRP of $9.99, were hard to come by, and varied in quality. Some were rehashes of old LD transfers, others were brand new anamorphic transfers. Who knows what the quality will be like here, but I'm sure knowing Mill Creek that this is just the beginning. |

I'm assuming you're also referring to Stakeout in that post.

I'll be in for a couple of those. If they do end up at $5 during sales, I'll probably be in for many more after future batches.
A number of Hollywood Pictures and Touchstone Pictures titles seemed to live in heavy rotation on TBS, TNT and various other channels (some still do). 'Taking Care of Business' was on during one of the free movie preview weekends recently and looked pretty good (Loryn Locklin also). DVDAf seems to have a fairly comprehensive listing of these studios if one wants to browse them. Hollywood Pictures Touchstone Pictures |

Mill Creek? I thought it was Echo Bridge?

Re: The Mill Creek Buena Vista Blu-ray Bargain Bonanza Appreciation Thread
V.I. Warshawski?
Haha. Never thought I'd see that getting a BD release. There's nothing listed I'm interested in. |
Re: The Mill Creek Buena Vista Blu-ray Bargain Bonanza Appreciation Thread
Criterion should follow this method of pricing.

By the same token, I'm not sure how high the quality standards – both in terms of transfer and features – are with Mill Creek's releases. It's the old you get what you pay for.

I'll pick up Money For Nothing and My Father The Hero (which is dated for a 4/12 release). The price is right and I'm glad to see some lesser catalog titles getting some love.

I think Mill Creek has the deal with Disney for Touchstone/Hollywood titles, Echo Bridge has the deal with Miramax (which is no longer owned by Disney).
Mill Creek = Buena Vista. Echo Bridge = Miramax and Dimension. |
Re: The Mill Creek Buena Vista Blu-ray Bargain Bonanza Appreciation Thread
I'd love to get An Innocent Man.
Best line - "I'm gonna take that piece and fuck you with it, punk." Classic. |
Re: The Mill Creek Buena Vista Blu-ray Bargain Bonanza Appreciation Thread
would love to see them do a release of Bicentenial Man since its probably not a title disney is in much of a rush to release themselves.
I wonder if they will also be licensing out some of the older live action disney films like they did with Anchor Bay back in the 1990s. |
Re: The Mill Creek Buena Vista Blu-ray Bargain Bonanza Appreciation Thread
pre ordered My father the hero, wonder if that dates accurate since all the others are set for may

I'd be interested in Gross Anatomy and the stakeout movies.

Yeah, I think Lionsgate probably got to pick what they wanted and then Max/Dimension took the leftovers to the highest bidder. I guess there must have been some preliminary deal with Anchor Bay that fell through, because early announcements were made from them as well. I wonder how much they were outbid? Anchor Bay would have probably done a great job with some of the genre titles. We probably would have seen the different versions to some of the films the Weinstiens hacked up over the years, we probably won't ever see them now.

Re: The Mill Creek Buena Vista Blu-ray Bargain Bonanza Appreciation Thread
I'll take 1 new release @ $25 over any 5 titles @ $5 each listed in this thread, absolutely nothing I would ever want to watch, let alone buy... but here's to future releases that are more to my liking.
