Yep and perhaps even a director's cut (i.e. Zodiac)?

Day 1 purchase for me, but hopefully there's a bit more to the release.

Given how much:

- Fincher cut
- Criterion loves his films
- he likes to pack his discs with supplements

I'd say a double dip is inevitable. I'll likely on demand the film (missed it in theaters) and wait for the buff BD.

.....yeah, I sense a SE down the line. Considering Sony did this film...what are the chances they'd let CC have it?

There are quite a few Sony releases licensed to Criterion. It may be a possibility.

An eventual CC release seems likely.

To point out Fincher's past releases from Sony:
  • Panic Room originally received a bare bones Superbit edition on DVD before being released as a three-disc set months down the road.
  • The Social Network received a special edition on Blu-ray upon its first release.

Non-Sony?
  • Alien 3 finally saw a special edition with the DVD release of the Alien Quadrilogy set (which was then ported to the Alien Anthology Blu-ray set with even more bonus material).
  • The Game has only seen a bare bones release on DVD and HD-DVD despite a Criterion Laserdisc release. Rumors are the film will see a Blu-ray release from Criterion.
  • Fight Club was a special edition on DVD out the gate.
  • Zodiac saw a bare bones release before the two-disc director's cut edition that appeared on DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray.
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button saw a two-disc Criterion release with its first release.

So if it doesn't see a special edition in March, we will see it soon. Probably by Sony and not Criterion.

I agree. Look how quickly Criterion picked up "The Social Network".

160 minutes of Fincher commentary is still pretty damn good. Ill bite for $14 or so I think

I liked this a lot and I'll gladly pick this up. I wonder if the remaining Fincher movies that aren't out on Blu-ray yet will come out anytime soon. I thought Criterion was rumored to be working on The Game, wonder if anything's happening with that. Also would pick Panic Room up if it came out.

The fact that this is a multiple-film series makes multiple releases even more likely--a way of sustaining interest

Three months is pretty typical. I think I would've expected this 2 or 3 weeks later, but it's not TOO far off the mark.

Panic Room had a very fucking cool SE DVD.

Too bad none of the features made the movie any better.

I hope Panic Room arrives on BD the same day.

It did indeed. Coincidentally I was just looking at this set yesterday and had forgotten how extensive it was. I didn't get the original superbit release.

I saw this in the theatre so I could hold out for an SE.

It's 2012. "Special Edition" releases don't really sell all that well like they used to. When was the last time Sony did the 'normal release now, and a few months later super-duper edition' for Blu-ray?
