I just received the Futurama DVDs and watched them on my Malata N996, and the shimmer is not there, it looks just fine. Like with all PAL titles, horizontal lines create an effect that I would call shimmering, but the animation looks great (a little different because it is, after all, PAL, but nothing to write home about). I guess that the Family Guy shimmering (which I maintain is not worth worrying about) is unique to those DVDs.

I just received my copy of Family Guy and saw no shimmering on my APEX AD-1500. I should receive Futurama on Monday, and I expect no problems with that title as well.

Best $80 I ever spent on a DVD player :)

I received my Futurama today and didn't notice any shimmering on my Malata displaying to a 32" TV via a component connection :)

Both the Family Guy and Futurama play great on my older Apex 6xx model. I believe the only shimmering occurs during the Family Guy Main menu. That happens from the light on their TV that the Family is watching. That seems to be an intentional part of the program.

the shimmering is intentional on the menu, although i did notice some edge enhancement probs on 2 eps. but they were only for a few seconds. my pal sets of future and family work great, but then again i am watching on a pal dvd player and tv.

have any of you heard a rumour today about futurama being canned?

Futurama box set is teriffic! I've only watched two episodes so far, but I'm very impressed with the quality (much better that the Family Guy DVDs).

The packaging is very cool (but mine was slightly damaged during shipment). The artwork on the discs and cases is very original, and I like how they have a prinout of the menus on the underside of the outer cover (cases are clear, if this makes sense to anyone).

I woould highly recommend you purchase this set if you are any sort of fan. I bought mine from bensons, and it took about 5 days to arrive to MN from UK.

4.5/5

Only 5 days to arrive? I ordered mine from Benson's over a week ago and I'm still waiting.
