re: The Collected (The Collector 3) (D: Dunstan)

Agreed. I saw the first one at the theater and loved it. The sequel was a joke which threw continuity and any semblance of style under the bus. No interest in a third.

Re: Sequels you wish never existed?

The only sequels I wish were never made are the ones that mess with what makes the first films work.

Halloween II - I've always loathed the sister idea. Ignore the fact that this is one of the...

Re: Blair Witch (2016, D: Adam Wingard)

In my case, it's the reason I'm skipping this one. The original is one of my top five all-time favorite horror films. It profoundly unnerved me in a way no other has before or since, and that is...

Re: Ignoble movie deaths

The shark hunter in Jaws 3-D. Slowly crushed inside the shark's mouth while fruitlessly trying to escape. He's then left hanging there for the remainder of the film.

Re: Most attractive person on TV?

I can sort of see it, at least more so than Miley Cyrus (ugh), who I recall someone inexplicably comparing her to on that bastion of good taste, IMDB. I first saw Alycia in Into the Storm and was...

Re: Untitled Darren Aronofsky Film - S: Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem

Don't care for Lawrence, but Aronofsky has a lifetime pass from me for Requiem for a Dream, so I'll be seeing this regardless.

Re: Maps to the Stars (2014) (D: Cronenberg; S: Cusack, Wasikowska, Pattinson, J. Moo

Unfortunately, it seems that Cronenberg has stopped doing commentaries. None for the new releases of Shivers, Scanners or The Brood either. He's my favorite filmmaker, so I'd always prefer one. As...

Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)

Death Proof is the only Tarantino film I care for. As someone who generally can't stand his work, I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Oops, I answered before I read the prior page. To make it up to you, I'll take a stab at your question. ;)

Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by horror. Back then, before thematic...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

The Sect. Just revisited it the other day, actually, with the overlooked Damned in Venice for an Italian Antichrist birthing double-feature.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

I watched Kristy for today's theme and loved it. Nothing new, but it's tense and wonderfully atmospheric with the lovely Haley Bennett in her best role yet. I can't believe the idiot studio decided...

Re: "Next of Kin" Reviews/Discussion - 2015 Horror Challenge: Day 26

I remember first renting this from, of all places, H.E.B. back when they had a video section. More of a sporadically developing mood piece than an outright slasher, and all the better for it if you...

Awesome movie. I always double-bill it with Equinox, including once for the challenge (2012).

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

My 1965 pick, Two on a Guillotine, was spoiled by my DVR cutting out halfway through recording, so I'm just going to stick to filling in some of my 1990 blind spots.

Despite being completely...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

^ A lot of people hate it, but Dial: Help is absolutely my favorite Deodato film not named Cannibal Holocaust. Where else are you going to find a POV shot from a telephone creeping up some stairs?...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

A New Beginning is my favorite of the series. I actually found out last year that one of my relatives by marriage, who I've only met once, plays one of the two guys who bite it in Tommy 's dream...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Calamity of Snakes is pretty damn gruesome. If you can stomach tons of snakes being slaughtered for real (it is Hong Kong), it's a wild flick. Haven't watched anything today so far, but I've got more...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

The use of jazz is actually one of my favorite aspects of his work. His overreliance on eroticism is what I find most grating. The films where he keeps that in check, I tend to enjoy more. I find...
