The Blacklist (NBC) -- The 10th and Final Season -- Premieres 2/26/23

Since a new promo poster and trailer was released, I might as well get this thread going.

If you didn't read the other thread, it was announced season 10 is the last one.

Six episodes into this season (halfway) and it feels like they took a page from the final season of Fringe: reach back into the Blacklist and bring out a bunch of the best players (or those left) to wrap up the loose ends.

The slimmed down team of Cooper, Ressler, Dembe, and newcomer Siya, an MI-6 agent on loan and daughter Agent Meera Malik (from Season 1) is working with Red against a vengeful Wujing.

Pretty decent so far.

I’m really digging this season… the perfect long con.

I’m thinking that having an end game is what is keeping this season so tight.

Reddington is playing everyone like a fiddle…

…. and Cooper is pissed!

Three more eps to go.

Really? I thought it was a 12 episode mini-season.

But I'll take a full season. :)

It looks like The Blacklist moves back to Thursdays (was that its original night?) on June 1st with 2 episodes. From then, it seems to be single episodes until 2 episodes to wrap it up on July 13th.

It's clear to me that after episode 17, Red is taking himself off the board this season. He's shutting down his operations, rewarding those who's he's close to and removing those who are in his way.

Congressman Hudson will get close to finding things out, but he'll be too late. All the fizz will be gone before he can crack the top.

Also, I really like Herbie. At first he was annoying, but he is a good addition to the cast. I knew that I had seen him somewhere before and then it hit me, Alex Brightman was the original Dewey in Broadway's Schoo of Rock and the original Beetlejuice in Beetlejuice. Pretty talented guy.

I’m confused … since when is Red hooking up with his new bodyguard?

I knew Red and Mierce (Weecha’s sister) had a thing in the past, but I always thought Red and Weecha grew closer while in the RV, that I wasn’t surprised she showed up after Red left the note for her in Cuba but I was surprised when she climbed into bed with him.

What date is the finale?

Funny it aired on Sundays and then moved to Thurs once all the Law and Orders were finished.

I stopped watching this a few years ago after absolutely loving the first few seasons. It all just became too much. But I'm still somewhat interested, so can someone please explain who James Spader's "Red" really is?

The nest episode is #18 on June 22. It is 22 episode season, so if no more breaks, July 20. But that is based on assumptions, not facts.

As I posted above, the final two episodes are on July 13th:

They heavily implied that Red is Liz Keene's actual mother. To protect Liz, she became Red. I guess she had sex change surgery or something? I don't really buy that though, so I hope they have a different explanation by the end.

No, that was never heavily implied anywhere but Reddit and deranged fan groups.

Well, that's certainly the impression that I got from Megan Boone's final episode and I haven't read any Reddit groups about the show.

Where was it implied, even lightly, that Red was Liz's mother? That is the first time I've ever heard that theory.

oh shit. Don’t go down that rabbit hole. There is a massive group that believe “red” is her mother - BIRTH MOTHER - and had a sex change to be Red.

there is also a group that think Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1 are also 100% gay and a will be the “end game” even though there has been no indication either of them are gay.

I still think the Red is her Mom to be more absurd.

Watch the scene of Liz dying. Pay attention to the way they intercut the montage with scenes of Liz, her mother, and Red. In particular, there is is the shot of Liz's mother holding her as a baby and then the shot of Red holding her as she's dying. It's pretty clear to me what they're implying. Also in this episode, Liz asks Red if he knew her mother well, and he responds that he knew her “better than anyone.”

I’m with windom, that’s the implication I got from that episode.

As far out of left field that could come, I wouldn’t discount it but with all the red herrings (pun intended) they throw out, it is a (plausible) possibility - and one that wouldn’t sit right with most of the audience.

At this point, I don’t really care, but I will say this… if Red is Liz’s mother and therefore Agnes’ grandmother, then having Agnes call Red “Pinky” is genius writing.

That double episode on July 13th better be good… and the names of the episodes are:
Spoiler:
Raymond Reddington Part 1 (s10e21) and Raymond Reddington: Good Night (s10e22).

Guess we’ll see in a month!

So one scene in one episode of a show that has had over 200 episodes is "heavily implied"? If that is the case, wouldn't we need liz to be alive to get the full payoff of that reveal?

Re: The Blacklist (NBC) -- The 10th and Final Season -- Premieres 2/26/23

Just watched last week’s episode (Room 417 / S10E19) and it’s that Reddington is dismantling his empire… which we’ve all speculated for awhile.

With three episodes left (one this week and a double-header next week), we’ll have a nicely wrapped series that few will watch, but those of us that have stuck it out might be content.

Unless you’re still caring who Raymond Reddington really is… which I doubt they’ll reveal.

If I had ever seen Pretty in Pink, I probably would have appreciated seeing Spader and Andrew McCarthy back together even more.
