Sentai Snaps Up “Prima Doll” for Summer 2022
HOUSTON, TX — June 9, 2022 — Sentai announced today that it acquired exclusive rights to Prima Doll, the anime adaptation of acclaimed visual novel studio Key’s multimedia franchise of the same name, for audiences worldwide (excluding Asia). Sentai will premiere the series exclusively on HIDIVE, its direct-to-consumer streaming service, during the Summer 2022 simulcast season.
Café “Kuronekotei” boasts an unusual roster of employees. A group of automata, or autonomous mechanical dolls, serve their patrons with a smile, but they weren’t always so suited to domestic life. Just a few years prior, automata served as weapons in the great war, fulfilling the bloody purpose for which they were created. Now that the war has ended, these machines with human hearts search for their place in an unfamiliar, peaceful world — and their search begins at the Kuronekotei café.
Prima Doll is animated by Bibury Animation Studios (Grisaia: Phantom Trigger, The Quintessential Quintuplets 2, BlackRock Shooter: Dawn Fall) and is directed by TENSHO (The Fruit of Grisaia, Azur Lane, Rewrite). Studio Key’s beloved works include CLANNAD, Kanon, Angel Beats! and more. Makoto Ishiwata (Obsolete, Psycho-Pass, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet) provides mechanical design. GKIDS plans to release the anticipated film in theaters in late 2022, marking the first time EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME will be available in theaters in North America since its domestic release. It's been a big year for Eiichiro Oda's One Piece series, and it's about to get even bigger with the upcoming arrival of the 15th big screen adventure, One Piece Film: Red. Crunchyroll and Toei Animation announced plans to distribute the film outside of Japan, with both subtitled and dubbed versions to screen in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand this fall.
Ahead of that, One Piece Film: Red will take center stage at Anime Expo 2022, which is coming to LA over the July 1-4 weekend. Toei Animation plans to hold a series of special events to celebrate the film, including "One Piece Film: Red presents Steve Aoki Live," an exclusive one-night music event with two-time Grammy-nominated artist Steve Aoki. There will also be a special panel at Anime Expo featuring One Piece Producer Shinji Shimizu, English dub actors Brandon Potter (Shanks) and Ian Sinclair (Brook) and ADR Director Anthony Bowling.

Meet hell's most adorable messenger. Chimimo might be an average demon, but he and his horde of minions have big dreams of unleashing hell on earth! Too bad a portal to the human realm drops him into the middle of the Onigami household, where the family’s three unflappable sisters rule the roost with iron fists. Now Chimimo is stuck as their freeloading roommate, and his ambitions of unleashing the apocalypse will have to wait until he can summon the willpower to get off the couch!
Produced by Shin-El Animation (Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3, Sweetness & Lightning, Doraemon), the series is directed by pinoalto. Kimiko Ueno (Carole & Tuesday, Space Dandy, The Royal Tutor) provides series composition. Mikako Komatsu (Nisekoi, Welcome to the Ballroom, K) performs the series’ ending song. Popular illustrator Kanahei is in charge of character design.
The series stars Junichi Suwabe (Black Clover, Yuri!! On Ice, Jujutsu Kaisen) as Jigoku-san, Ai Kakuma (Amagi Brilliant Park, Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as Hazuki Onigami, Yuria Kozuki (Ponyo) as Mei Onigami and Mamiko Noto (CLANNAD, Kimi ni Todoke, Hell Girl) as Mutsumi Onigami.
Chimimo will premiere exclusively on HIDIVE in Summer 2022 with a home video release to follow.

GKIDS, the acclaimed producer and distributor of multiple Academy Awardâ-nominated animated features, announced today it will bring GOODBYE, DON GLEES!, to cinemas nationwide this September. Produced by the acclaimed Studio Madhouse, the film is the first original feature from writer/director Atsuko Ishizuka, who previously directed the widely lauded series A Place Further Than The Universe. Continuing their partnership with Fathom Events, fan preview events for GOODBYE, DON GLEES! will play in cinemas nationwide on Wednesday, September 14th (Japanese language), and Thursday, September 15th (English language dubbed). Fan preview events will be followed by a limited theatrical release in select markets nationwide by GKIDS starting Friday, September 16th.
GOODBYE, DON GLEES! follows the story of three friends over the course of one summer, as their backyard adventures turn one small incident to a life changing journey. It was domestically released in February 2022, and stars famed Japanese voice actors Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata,” Haikyu!!”), Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado, “Demon Slayer”), Kana Hanazawa (Akane Tsunemori, “Psycho-Pass”), and Yuuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger, “Attack on Titan”). GOODBYE, DON GLEES will have its North American premiere at Anime Expo today (Friday, July 1st).
Tickets will be on sale on Friday, August 5th at GoodbyeDonGlees.com, and participating theater box offices. The ticket on-sale date may vary based on local cinemas, so please check back often. (Theaters and participants are subject to change).
Synopsis
Teen misfits Roma, Toto, and Drop call themselves the “Don Glees,” an informal name for their backyard adventures. One day, when the trio gets blamed for a nearby forest fire, they set off into the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare between the friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on wildly different paths in life.
