The official website for the new television anime of Rumiko Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura manga ended its countdown timer on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (Friday at 11:00 p.m. EST) with a teaser promotional video. The teaser announces the anime's voice cast and staff. The anime will adapt selected stories from the manga and run for four cours or a full year, although not necessarily consecutively. The "first season" will premiere in 2022.

Sumire Uesaka will voice Lum, and Hiroshi Kamiya will voice Ataru Moroboshi.

Hideya Takahashi (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Strike Witches: Road to Berlin) and Yasuhiro Kimura (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team) are directing the anime at david production, and Yuuko Kakihara is overseeing the series scripts. Naoyuki Asano is designing the characters.

The anime will air in the Noitamina programming block on Fuji TV and other channels in 2022.

Original TV series license rescued by Discotek Media. Movies are already licensed by them (5 of 6 are released/solicited on BD). OVA series is currently unlicensed.

A new adaptation of the beloved classic series, Urusei Yatsura features the instantly recognizable and utterly iconic character Invader Girl Lum and will premiere on HIDIVE during the Fall 2022 simulcast season.

When an alien race known as the Oni invade Earth, the chronically unlucky and unapologetically lecherous Ataru Moroboshi is selected as humanity’s representative in a duel for the fate of the planet! His opponent is Lum, the Oni’s very pretty princess, and it’s only thanks to Ataru’s unscrupulous behavior that he’s able to scrape out a win in a treacherous game of tag against her. Ataru thinks he’s had his lucky break at last, but when Lum takes a shine to him off the battlefield, the conflict follows him home as Lum invades not only planet Earth, but also the womanizing Ataru’s love life!

Animated by David Production (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Cells at Work, Fire Force), Urusei Yatsura is directed by Hideya Takahashi (director of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) and Yasuhiro Kimura (director of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) and written by Yuko Kakihara (scriptwriter for Cells at Work! and Kids on the Slope).

The series will star Sumire Uesaka (Rika Sonezaki in O Maidens in Your Savage Season, Hayase Nagatoro in Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro) as Lum, Hiroshi Kamiya (Levi in Attack on Titan, Trafalgar Law in One Piece) as Ataru Moroboshi, Maaya Uchida (Rikka in Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Hiyori in Noragami) as Shinobu Miyaki and Mamoru Miyano (Light in Death Note, Rintaro in Steins;Gate) as Shutaro Mendo.

The future home video release of Urusei Yatsura will be distributed by and available from Sentai.

Been watching it on bilibili and liking it so far. I've never seen the old show before. I was a little young for that. More familiar with Ranma 1/2 though.

I wish HiDive would fix their apps. At least on the AppleTV I can never resume an episode correctly.

It's same for Roku. Episode doesn't resume correctly. And sometimes subtitles are not available right away after initial launch.
