If anyone remembers the Blade series, that had both nudity and F words, but they were kept infrequent and they didn't bother me. Hopefully Breaking Bad is not much worse than Blade in that regard. I also hope it's not filmed in shakycam style?
There is profanity in BB but it isn't outrageous like Pulp Fiction. I'm not a big fan of constant profanity and BB never bothered me. It is a show about making and selling meth so you have to expect some bad language. As for nudity, in one and a half seasons I don't recall even a topless scene. There was the funny scene with Bryan Cranston nude but I think that was shot from the back.

I love when people push their own personal values onto others. I have no problem waiting if the price is right, I know what I'm getting into when I place the order. I have plenty of stuff on my watch shelf to keep me busy until these arrive. I don't mind waiting for a few items at this price, but I wouldn't expect, nor care, if others do not feel the same way. I also don't mind 'rewarding' DD for offering blu-rays at low prices, I hope they continue to have these sales. I also placed my order very soon after I got the email about it, and everything appears to be in stock, so hopefully I avoid getting any lengthy delays.

I'm going to try to avoid my usual rant regarding profanity (see: Penn & Teller: Bullshit!).

When you watch the program you will be able to easily tell that this show was originally produced with the intent to be sold to a premium network (one that doesn't have content restrictions). (I believe the first 3 episodes had to be edited for AMC airings.) Regarding nudity, I believe only the first episode has any (boobs for a few seconds) but I could be wrong (I have a neurological problem causing dementia so my memory kind of sucks). Profanity-wise you may get a few 'fucks' over those first three episodes. After that they no longer appear since the show was tailored to AMC.

I have to say, I really love this fucking program; it really is top-notch.

BB is an awesome show and you don't need to worry about too much nudity or profanity. For that, you'd need to get Spartacus: Blood and Sand .

Not too much swearing actually. It is not even in every episode and when it happens it is for short moments of time. The nudity is even less frequent. I think I remember maybe 1 quick topless scene and a bare butt scene. So, no full frontal or gratuitous and certainly nothing you will remember as too much.
Instead you will remember the brilliant story lines and plots and also the brilliant acting. Like others have said it is much better than Mad Men and together with Fringe, Community, Simpsons and Family Guy (I know totally different shows) amongst my favorite shows presently on TV. Bryan Cranston deserved the Emmy, but don't underestimate his sidekick who is equally brilliant and should get an Emmy soon.

Aaron Paul did win the Emmy just 6 weeks or so ago :-)

He won this year. Aaron Paul won Best Supporting Actor for the first time and Bryan Cranston won Lead Actor for the third year in a row.

Duh! Been too busy with work and family and besides I never watch those awards shows apart from the odd viewing of parts of the Oscars. I reiterate though - well deserved for both of them according to my missus and me.

Is it safe to say that if I enjoyed Labyrinth I would enjoy Dark Crystal?

I'm thinking about picking up that and Zombieland.

Re: Another DD BOGO sale

Thanks, sotra, et al., for your additional comments on Breaking Bad. It sounds like the profanity and nudity is pretty mild which is good for me as I like to be able to watch it with family. I wouldn't have been concerned except a couple reviews which incorrectly made it sound like the profanity/nudity was pretty heavy. So it sounds like it's good that I ordered. The real question is... will DD ever ship mine?

What happens if Amazon has a Black Friday lightning deal where these are cheaper than this and DD hasn't shipped mine? I already can guess the answer: I'll order from Amazon and both my Amazon and DD orders will ship the very next day. Then I'll have to return the DD ones wasting some postage. I really don't care when I get these things... even months later as long as I know for sure I'm going to get them (and of course I never know that). My real problem with DD's slowness is when I see a deal somewhere else on something, then I don't know whether to pass on it and keep my DD order or buy it somewhere else and cancel my DD order and lose another BOGO item I would've liked.

You've never seen Labyrinth? (I need an icon showing shock and then fainting.) Actually I was in the same boat several years ago. I liked Dark Crystal (though it's a bit slow at times) and blind bought Labyrinth hoping I'd like it as much. I'd say it's about the same, but maybe slightly more interesting than Dark Crystal. I wasn't disappointed by either. Even when I felt a little bored by Labyrinth, the muppets and strangely creative things (like the talking hands) kept it sufficiently interesting. And though I don't care for the songs, at least David Bowie has some personality.

EDIT: I got it backwards. You saw Labyrinth but not Dark Crystal. (Fainting icon would still apply.) I would say that it's a good probability you'd like it, but not 100% safe. If someone asked me which I'd rather see now, I'd pick Labyrinth, but Dark Crystal still has enough going for it (even during the slow parts) to make it worth $7.xx on BD, IMHO. Basically if you like muppets and Jim Henson then you need to have both... just because they are there. :-)

Re: Another DD BOGO sale

Wow. Placed an order for the two steve martin flicks and I get an email that my first purchase from the previous buy 2 get 1 free shipped. Then, this morning, i get another email that my two blu martins are enroute as well. If I place another order, maybe my second order from the previous sale will ship?!

Re: Another DD BOGO sale

5 of my 10 titles shipped today. Count me as another person who really cares less about shipping times. The only movie I would like to have before the end of the month is Zombieland so I can watch it for the October Horror Movie Challenge....but if it doesn't, I'll have it for next year's challenge.

Re: Another DD BOGO sale

All four of the titles I ordered from this sale shipped today. Still waiting on "Bad Boys" and "Charlie's Angels" from the last sale, but they actually shipped to me once and were returned to DD by the post office for some reason, but I didn't receive a refund notice because they were both free. So I've essentially received everything. Just waiting on those two titles to come back in stock.

Edit: that's a lie. I forgot about one other order I made. I'm waiting on "Traitor," "The Natural," and "Contact."

Amazingly 3 of my 4 titles shipped (Roxanne, Secret Window, Pink Panther). Everything except Zombieland. I guess they get a couple of brownie points for actually doing what they are supposed to .

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. I have so much stuff in my collection yet to watch that it's worth it to me to sacrifice timely delivery for a good discount.

The word is out now about DD and the way they operate, at least to anyone who takes the time to read forums such as this one. Whether it conforms to a normal standard of business or expectations for same is a good topic for discussion, but the reality, at least presently, is that this retailer is operating in their own fashion.

If one wants to make a stand and not patronize them for it, that's understandable and can even be commendable, but I don't think it necessarily means those who continue to patronize them should be chastised for it.

Re: Another DD BOGO sale

My problem with DD isn't the wait. Like many of you, I have a backlog that is epic in scope. The problem is that you're never sure if DD will ever fulfill the order or cancel it. In the meantime, you might end up missing out on a good deal(albeit not as good as the deal at DD) from other retailers. If DD swore a blood oath to ship out the titles one day and not cancel it, then I would be less antsy waiting for it to arrive.

I know this isn't the store forum and I most certainly can't speak for anyone but myself, but I have ordered 535 DVDs/Blu-Rays from DDD and I haven't had one title not ship. I have been a part of some of the "glitch sales," but probably not as many as some of you. I will say, though, I accidentally hit order twice once and immediately sent them an e-mail saying I hit the order button twice and they said it was too late, which was BS.

That could be a bad sign for those of us still waiting for items from the first sale -- I ordered Roxanne, and it still hasn't shipped to me.

With DD it's a legitimate fear they might fulfill newer orders first.

That's basically what I said (though maybe not as well) in a post above. My backlog is epic too, and I'm bothered not knowing "for sure" if DD will ever send me something, but I could care less if it takes several months if I could count on them. So when other deals come around (especially with Black Friday less than 2 months away), I don't know if I should pass over those good deals or not. Since I don't trust DD much any more, I probably won't pass on any other deals. Then canceling will be difficult, and when you cancel 1 item out of a DD BOGO deal I suppose you lose the good price on the other item as well?

BTW, for those who are posting their orders from yesterday already shipped, as usual mine haven't. I haven't had anything (zip zero nada) ship since my August 23rd order.
