That's odd. I had a few things that weren't discounted and had a few bucks shipping tacked on. Once I removed those particular titles from my cart, the shipping charge disappeared.

^Same thing here. I just took out the items that were non-discounted and the shipping charges went as well. Apparently if something *doesn't* get the 30% discount you'll be charge shipping for that item.

I just put in an order of 25 DVDs for $97. That's not bad considering how many box sets I ordered. I may go back later this evening and grab some Blu-Rays.

I grabbed some of the more expensive stuff I didn't get during the last 40% off sale. Picked up 30 titles for $120. O_O I need to stop. I still haven't got all of my movies from the last purchase lol, but I should be getting them early this week I believe.

Has anyone had any luck contacting customer service through email, or do I have to put in a call?

Site is down yet again tonight, can't access much of anything for the past hour and now the sale is ending soon. Good thing I got an order in earlier today. So here they have a sale to compensate for the site being down all week and now it goes down again. What's wrong with this picture?

EDIT: Just for the hell of it, I tried IE instead of Firefox and everything went smoothly. I got the sale price even though I thought it was going to expire at midnight CST. Maybe they are extending it by a day or it hasn't updated in their system yet.

I had no problem placing an order earlier this afternoon. Tried another one a short time ago for a book/DVD and site kept hanging up right at the order confirmation screen. Who knows if it went through...no big deal I guess, but definitely a bit of a headache.

Edit to add: Site worked well enough for me to see the 2nd order in my order history.

Place 2 orders for a total of 3 titles. I hope it goes as smoothly as my first time ordering with them a few weeks back.

Before it was all over I placed 4 orders. I kept thinking of DVDs to look for and then realized CDs were included so I filled in a couple of gaps. The site returned that "sorry we're down" page a few times but it was always momentary and came right back up if I backed up a page and tried again. *Everything* I ordered was listed as "used" so we'll see...

I won't hesistate to order from goHastings in the future, but so far it's been a real mixed bag on this latest order. Almost everything I ordered has arrived already--I'm somewhat impressed by how quickly they shipped everything out. However, I've had one BD/DVD combo missing the DVD (advertised clearly as 2-disc), a DVD case which contained a BD of a completely different film inside and a couple of cases that were in horrible shape.


Edit: A to their customer service. Receiving a credit for the combo missing the DVD (meaning the BD will end up being free), a credit for the one with the wrong film and the CS allowed me to re-order that DVD while on the phone with her so she could adjust the price down since the coupon code from the weekend was expired.

Typical GoHastings interplanetary results for me. Some stuff exactly what I ordered and two even factory sealed. But also one movie I ordered that was made in the 40's but arrived as a straight to video movie with the same title from the 2000's. And another one where the art and case looked like Spike the dog from Looney Tunes had sex with it. I called and they blamed it all on "human error" and asked me to send them back. Oh and of course those two titles are now out of stock so so much for that deal. Grrrrrrrr....

Pretty sure they didn't make any profit on my recent orders. I bought about 50 BDs or CDs for $1.40 each, all shipped separately. The mailman must hate me.

I ordered all three Underworld movies because I'm too cheap to buy the "set". They arrived in excellent condition. Screw you, Mr. Box Set!

I called them to replace a movie that would not play for me. They told me they cant send me a different copy of the movie because they don't do that on the phone. They said I will have to ship the movie back and then wait for my credit and then order it again.Seems odd that some of you get thing's re-sent to you over the phone but they cant do that here.

Same for me. In all the years I've ordered from them never once have they offered to do an exchange or reorder over the phone. They have always told me it's not possible for them to do it, regardless of the item.

I've had similar experiences in the past. I'd actually tried *twice* on an older horror title only to receive 2 *different* films with the same name, neither of which being what I ordered. One they credited back and told me to keep the mis-picked title, the other was a far more expensive film than what I'd ordered and is horror so I never notified them and kept it to screen. If I don't like it I can sell it to Amazon for more than I paid Hastings so it's a win either way.

There's been only 1 "bad" shipment this time. I ordered all "used" but one DVD was a rental with "Rental" emblazoned on the label *and* disk. It was a bit more expensive so I may complain about that one. It'll really depend on if it's one of those with non-skippable previews, etc.

I believe there has been a recent change in policy at GoHastings. It used to depend on what customer service rep you got, some would just refund the item's price if it arrived damaged or was the wrong item. Now apparently everyone is forced to return the item for any reason, and the buyer is responsible for return shipping.

I just received a rare CD that I had really wanted from GoHastings, where the last 12 tracks do not even play due to surface damage. I'm probably going to chalk that purchase up as a small loss.

I hope that's not true. I just got about 8 bad out of 60 items in a recent bout of book purchases. And only three or four days ago they sent me the wrong item--a dvd instead of a blu-ray--and gave me a prepaid shipping label. Are you saying they no longer give you a prepaid shipping label?

It must have been very recent. Last week I received a wrong item- music CD instead of a music DVD-so I sent them an email and I was told I would receive a refund and also told to keep the wrong item.

They sent me a prepaid label for my recent returns. Why would they stick the customer with those shipping costs when it's THEIR mistake? Who would continue to order from them after getting burned, something that happens consistently with GoHastings?
