No idea, but from what I understand Universal titles are always region free unless someone else holds the rights in another country. Since this set is being released internationally, I'd bet money it'll be region free.

The only substantial differences between this list and the specs for the US edition is the exclusion of the Spanish version of Dracula, considered by many to be the superior film, but don’t fret. While I’m unsure of why it is excluded from the spec sheet, Universal Pictures UK have confirmed that it will be included on the release itself, making this set nigh identical to its upcoming US counterpart with the exception of the possible differences in packaging.

Small price reduction from £37.49 to £36.00. It's reflected in my preorder price guarantee reduction to £30.00 (after removal of VAT). Maybe it will come down more although I can't see how there is much more room.

I have it in my Amazon US gold box today for a comparably laughable $106.39.

In all, I have these three in one order to save on shipping: Universal Monsters, Bond and Hitchcock (all being released within a week of each other). Total price on Amazon UK after VAT removal and with shipping: £193.38. Just over $300.00. At Amazon US: Total $523.26.

Why is this stuff cheaper at Amazon UK?
What's the pricing history with Universal in the US? I'm wondering if prices will drop down the road or if these sets will prove to be limited and vanish. I seem to recall the Uni Hitch DVD box dropped in price back in the day.

Word so far is that it will be included. I'd bet the disc content will be EXACTLY THE SAME as the US release.

Those of us who have ordered at this low price (with the pre-order price guarantee) will have plenty of time to cancel before it ships.

It just seems to be an ongoing trend of late with these box sets. I've ordered from Amazon.UK for years but mostly for CDs, DVDs and HDs not available here. I've ordered some blu's but not as much since I worry if they'll play over here. I've bitten on some of the box set deals but it's just odd to have such a discrepancy right out of the gate of release. I am aware that we're cheaper in other stuff as my wife works in unison with some Brits. When the one came over we had to take him to Guitar Center and he was going crazy over the cheap prices there compared to the stores in the London area. (They also feel their bacon is superior to ours. I had breakfast over there. I don't agree but their tea is awesome. )

I also expect it to be the same, but a note to anybody reading this who doesn't typically buy from overseas. As the extras tend to go back 10-12 years, they will almost certainly be in SD and PAL format, which some US region free players can't handle.

I was worried about that when I bought UK standalone release, but all of the special features (including the SD Archival Featurettes) played flawlessly on my Sony BDP-S580 and LG BD610 which have had no tweaks, nor have either of my HDTVs.

And you can't argue with 'em either. It's not bacon and it's no where near as good. At least the Canadians had the decency to qualify their inferior ham product. Real British ale, on the other hand, now that's some good stuff.

Could be, but they could also be upconverted.

Hopefully we'll know by mid-September with plenty of time to cancel.

Has anyone ever bought Universal UK blu rays, like Psycho? If the SD special features were upconverted on past blu ray releases, then it's a good sign that this set will be no different.

Well, they seem to have gone all out for the Universal Monsters set. Get a gander of this Coffin set. It's only $12 (U.S.) more than the regular boxed set. It comes to about $63 shipped to the U.S. I'll be getting this for sure!

That could be an error. Amazon is notorious with their specs info. I have the UK steelbook of Psycho and The Wolfman and they're both region free and all of the special features are also region free.

Is MGM typically Region Free as well? I think I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and order Bond, Hitchcock, and Universal Monsters. I just gotta decide whether or not I want to cool coffin, or rather save on shelf space...

EDIT: Order placed. I got the regular version, sans coffin, to save money and shelf space... I haven't placed an order from Amazon UK in forever. I don't think I have a credit card without conversion fees currently, but these don't ship for a while, so perhaps I'll get one.
