Past sales of Buy 1 Get 1 Free were the norm. Then Buy 1 Get 1 for $1.00. Now Buy 2 Get 1 Free. Unfortunately, Newbury Comics seems to be struggling. Sad to see.

Newbury has been struggling for some time now, which is why they took the gambit of re-structuring their product line, look and moving into Malls. It'll be interesting to see how things are going for them after factoring in the Holiday season, and if that made any difference. I wouldn't count them out just yet.

I'd never heard of this retailer. Using Google, I discovered it's in New England! I suppose it's like the threads for sales at Fry's, reversed.

I just received a $25 gift card for christmas , so I will head over today . Last week I found a receipt under my computer table from Newbury , it was dated June 3, damn that was the last time I bought something from them.

I also don't remember them having a sale like this right after Christmas, they usually wait until late January, so maybe they are not doing well?
Moving to the Malls for me is a game changer, I never step foot in a Mall.

Their Used Buy 1 Get 1 sales are what got me into the stores every time. Usually walked out with a few regularly priced items too. Unfortunately, Buy 2 Get 1 won't. The regular price of older CD's, DVD's, and Blu-Ray's in other stores just doesn't make for a good deal.

I visited their new store in the Northshore Mall. It's very nice but it's not going to draw me in for a special visit. The sales did.

I can always find something I want in Newbury Comics. This sale is lame, and I won't bother making the trip. I like combing through their horror section when they run the B1G1 sales.

I got a poll from them this past year, and it seems like they want to get more into clothing. If they ditch their CDs and DVDs (and their bobbleheads/novelties/etc, for that matter), I won't be going in anymore at all.

I think that they've carved out a nice niche for themselves, but also understand that times have changed.

I wanted Nurse Jackie: Season 3 blu, and they have it USED, for the same price I can get it new from Amazon, $19.99. I used to love going to that store, so much cool stuff to see. lately, not so much.

Just came back from Norwood, bought 3 CD's for a total of $14, and with my gift card I bought a brand new Blu, The Wild Geese....I figured since it's a gift I may as well buy something I want !

Their used blu section is very sorry looking. Giallofan is right, most of the used blu discs I saw you can find cheaper as new somewhere else.

I've noticed that since they moved their North Attleboro store into the mall, I've spent less money there. The new location is nice, but the selection of the items I'd actually be interested in buying has really dried up.

There's still a Spencer's at the Northshore Mall. I pop in every once in a while to see what's on their Buy1 Get 50% off T shirt rack.

Actually, there are plenty of Spencer's still around.

Newbury Comics decided to get into high fashion, trendy and pricey clothing, along with all the other stuff they used to carry. If you haven't been to one of the new Mall locations lately, they are now very boutique-y looking, and about 50% of the store is clothing. And while their video and music depts. have not really declined, I have noticed that their pricing has gone up - especially on DVD & Blu Ray. They make Fye prices an absolute bargain in comparison.

There is still a Spencer's at the Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro too. Newbury opened right next door to it,lol.
