That was my reaction as well. The only title that I thought had a pretty good price was the Trick Baby (which is a Scorpion releasing title).

They've had a lot more 9.99 titles, with few, if any dipping below that for the last few sales. The Eastwood titles were a little lower than I expected (by a dollar or so), but some of the newer titles and Code Red items weren't included at all.

So far I have not been able to reach $50 for free shipping. Many titles I already have .As of now I will have to wait for a future sale. Of course there is no guarantee the same titles will be included in the future.

re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals

I hit $50 pretty easily. Loaded the cart with everything I was interested in and then deleted all the upgrades leaving new stuff:

The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975)
Evil Eye (Featuring The Girl Who Knew Too Much) (1963)
King of Hearts (1966)
Killdozer (1974)
Kidnapped (1971)

$10 is good enough (made an exception of King of Hearts).

Roctober Sale (Final Day October 26th)

Thanks for posting, I haven't got the Kino email yet. I've gone through 9 pages (I'll eventually look at all) & unfortunately, the prices are still significantly higher than last year's sales. As someone suggested a few months back, it may be worthwhile to check ebay for any title of interest; they may be cheaper there.

re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals

These "Roctober" prices struck me as a bit better than some of their recent sales, which I've mostly skipped, but maybe it just happened to be some things I was interested in. I made one order with:

[Blu-ray] Continental Divide $9.99
[Blu-ray] The Grey Fox (Special Edition) $9.99
[Blu-ray] Heartworn Highways $9.99
[Blu-ray] The Hunchback of Notre Dame $12.49
[Blu-ray] The Iceman Cometh (2-Disc) $8.99
[Blu-ray] Ladybug Ladybug $9.99

I was struck by the Hunchback price in particular; this is the new (just released a couple weeks ago I think) restoration of the silent Lon Chaney version. I was surprised to see it discounted so deeply so quickly.

Please let us know if The Hunchback is a significant upgrade over the last Image. I've purchased Phantom 5 ot 6 timers, but it looks like I've only bought Hunchback once (most recent before this one; Image DVD)

Does anyone have thoughts on how best to look at the sales items and sort by price?
It drives me a little crazy that I cant do that on the site

I went with
1. Hell's Highway
2. Cannibal Apocalypse
3. Cabin Boy
4. The Martian Chronicles

I am a glutton for punishment.

Yesterday I finally received this order, which I placed on October 5th. I guess the hold-up was the Hunchback disc, which went out of stock early in the sale.

I sampled the disc a little today. I haven't seen the Image release, so I can't really compare. From what I've read, I gather all releases are from the same 16mm Show-At-Home print, but this one advertises a new 4K scan. The scenes I sampled show a print that is clearly worn, but the image seems surprisingly sharp for a 16mm source. It looks very watchable. For what it's worth, I see at least a couple reviews on the Amazon listing for this new release which imply that it indeed is a worthy upgrade to the Image and Flicker Alley releases -- but I can't vouch for that. In any case, I'm looking forward to watching the whole thing. Maybe I'll triple-feature it with my very old Warner DVD of the Laughton and my Disney DVD of the animated -- could be interesting but maybe that's a bit too much Quasi for one go .

Does Kino typically do a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale?
