On a 17 million budget, (not including DVD sales), yes, but let's not get all pedantic about it.

The Others was a sleeper hit and got a lot of press since it came out from Miramax Films during that label's absolute heyday.

I was looking at my 2 disc DVD thinking to myself, do I really need this in 4K? It was such a good release back in the day and I’ve watched it once since.
I did pickup Targets, Don’t Look Now 4K, Diabolique, and Freaks though. Still want a few more too

Given the weird licensing status surrounding most Miramax films, you can never be sure they'll get another physical release.

The Other ('72) is the actual horror gem.

For other money savings options

If you are a BJ's Wholesale member they have BN$50 GC for 39.99 (in store or online). They just raised the limit from 1 per acct to 30 per member too

If you have a Discover Card some people have a deal on either BN Gift Cards or a store rebate $20 on $100 purchase (I'm still unclear in the exact deal), but if it;s the latter it's a nice way
to leverage the BN/BN;com deal offering $10 Free GC on $100GC Purchase. Instore I was just given a normal $10 GC (no delayed activation) so I bought the GC first and used them immediately on a purchase.
In addition the Member (free or Premium) STAMPS reward applies to even purchases made with a GC (no STAMPS on purchase of the GC so no double dipping that way)

Starting on Nov 24, double stamps for regular members on purchases and if you are a premium member , you get 3 or 4x stamps. I haven’t really seen it posted here.

Basically if you want to buy Criterion’s it’s probably a better deal to wait till Friday.

Re: B&N - 50% off Criterion Sale

Stopped by my local B&N this afternoon and picked up Mean Streets (1973) & Branded To Kill (1967) on 4K.

I wanted to also pick-up copies of The Others (2001) & Raging Bull (1980) but the store didn't have any copies.

Re: B&N - 50% off Criterion Sale

The Others 4K seems to be a hot seller. All the BN stores are sold out and it's sold out online and Amazon is backordered like 2 months.

I've been going back and forth on whether I really need the 4K for this or not.

Re: B&N - 50% off Criterion Sale

Okay now I am officially done with BF physical media shopping. I just got my Criterions from Amazon

One False Move 4K
La Bamba BD

Backordered:
The Others 4K
Devil in a Blue Dress 4K
Exotica BD - Mia Kirshner as a sexy school girl dancer I saw it many many years ago and I know it's a low budget arthouse movie, but that alone was a selling point.
and I had no idea Exotica was a Criterion title until I saw a glimpse of it on a YouTube video of someone browsing the Criterion sale at the BN store.

I'm going to have to hold off on Raging Bull 4K, Malcolm X 4K, Mean Streets and After Hours for another time. I guess next summer.

The new Jackie Chan set is a little iffy for me. Honestly I'm not really a huge fan of those late 1970s/early 80s period martial arts comedies. I do like My Lucky Stars.
