Girls School Screamers and The Laughing Dead were on there Day 1. If I remember any more I'll list them

Thanks. Pretty sure I got GSS in the 10 for $10 sale, only to discover that I’d previously picked it up in a half-price sale , and TLD doesn’t interest me too much.

None of the titles I’ve heard people have bought were of interest to me, or I already had them, but purchased a couple from today’s list.
Stanley/Horror High
The Laughing Dead
Red Sun Rising
American Scream
Devil Rider
Sugar Cookies
Girls School Screamers
Savage Harvest
Night Ripper
Jungle Trap
something something History As Barbarians.

Oof, sorry to hear that, because while I haven't subjected myself to it yet, I've heard Girls School is just not a good movie. I watched the trailer during the $10 sale and thought "why not?", but the $10 was the biggest selling point for me.

As for Laughing Dead, it's a Mexican film by a Thai director, that was intriguing enough for me to take a chance on it.

Is Death Promise worth a $12 blind buy? I probably can ask the same about Last Gasp as well.

I don't know about either, and probably won't take the chance on them. I was thinking I'd escape today without buying anything, but that trailer collection is starting to gnaw at my brain.

I'm probably waiting it out till the UHD sale for $18 on Friday. You can kind of guess or just narrow down on which films might be on sale there, just on the amount of UHD titles that are in stock and not newly released.

I don't have a 4k TV yet so the UHD sale doesn't mean a lot.

I don't either but some of these films are in a UHD/BD pack and you're almost obligated to buy the UHD version since they don't offer a standalone BD version of the film.

Yeah, money wasted, BUT I will say that the commentaries and documentary on that one are excellent in terms of context, and frankly better than the film itself, which would’ve been even worse if the director’s family-friendly version has been the one that got released. There’s a lot of great stories in the supplements.

I had the Code Red DVD of this for ages, and happily updated it to VS’s blu-ray in the $10 sale. I do have a bias for these older ‘martial arts movies made by regular guys who were into martial arts’ from the 70’s and very early 80’s, pre-home video so they were shot on film which required higher levels of production and effort all around even if the casts were made up of dedicated nobodies acting out predictable revenge-for-the-master plots. Taken on that level, and to enjoy all the New York scenery of the era, it’s quite fun.

Also, thanks to Toddarino for the Day 1 list. I didn’t miss out on anything after all. Added a couple more from today’s sale.

I ordered Death Promise, the Promise and the Cellar. I’ve been waiting on Death Promise for a while. I’ve heard good things.

Death Promise actually looks good, in that DIY way, and I'm a sucker for NYC-set movies from the 70s.

Problem is, the $12 only applies to the standard version, and I'm kinda digging that slip. I'm gonna take a chance and see if it lasts till the Black Friday sale.

(oh, and did I miss my chance to get this for $10 w/slip back in January?)

Death Promise is fun, I really wish I hadn't of bought it from Code Red so I could justify getting the VS release.

You may not have. I posted earlier that that’s where I picked it up, but realized just now that I actually got it in Target’s most recent ‘buy 2 get 1’ sale. It worked out to just pennies more than VS’s price. Can’t say for sure that it wasn’t in the 10/$10 sale, but I’m sure I would’ve grabbed it then if it was, which I didn’t.

Which ones? I'm eyeing the Two Undercover Angels disc, but I try to avoid Franco films that don't have Lina Romay. I already got Curfew in the January sale but haven't had time to spin it yet

re: Vinegar Syndrome - Subscriber Week Sale

Reading some reliable reviews, I'm thinking I'll skip the Franco. But what can anyone tell me about The Long Walk other than that it's not an adaptation of the Stephen King novel? For all the films I've watched for my Asian Film Festival, I can honestly say I've never seen a movie from Laos before.

I know it's on Shudder right now, and I'm a big fan of try-before-you-buy, but the clock is kinda ticking on this one and I have till tomorrow morning to make a decision.

If anyone is interested in Slashdance, I’d buy it soon. Only 56 left.

FOMO sent me to double check on Slashdance, but nah, I think I'm going to be just fine without that in my collection

re: Vinegar Syndrome - Subscriber Week Sale

Had SLASHDANCE in my cart (with one other title I’m still on the fence about), but just couldn’t pull the trigger on either. As much as I’ve long wanted to see it, I can wait until the standard edition goes on sale. And slips that match the sleeve seem kinda redundant. Hope there’s a better mix tomorrow.

Easy pass on most of the titles for today. Although I was tempted to pick up Raw Nerve just for Glenn Ford's final film role.

I went with Wolfpack, Hot Snake, Raw Nerve & Deathcember. All an unresearched gamble.

Got The Long Walk like I'd mentioned, and did a last minute add of Wolfpack. Always up for a Nazism allegory.

re: Vinegar Syndrome - Subscriber Week Sale

Unless I go for Summer of '84, I may be done with the sale. Yesterday I looked at all the 4k releases VS has done and realized I had the ones I wanted already (for the accompanying Blu, of course, as mentioned, I don't actually have 4k capability yet).

My total haul:
Televised Terror #1
Shriek of the Mutilated
AGFA Trailers
Wolfpack
The Long Walk
Beats
