My favorite book is Weaveworld by Clive Barker. I've read it at least 10 times, it never loses its bizarreness.

After a quickie search, the last thread on the topic hasn't been touched for ten years, so my thought is to ignore the thread starter here and just go with it.

Hard to claim I have a favorite book, but ever since I read it a few years ago Contact by Carl Sagan is the one book I eagerly want to go back and reread. I guess it's my favorite until another favorite comes along.

I already answered on the sly, but definitely my favorite novel is Watership Down, followed very closely by The Hobbit, then The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

If we’re following the meaning of “book” to include more than just novels or fiction, then I’d have to choose the Bible, and it’s eclectic mix of poetry and prose and instruction.

I read part 1 of Mein Kampf. I thought that Hitler was great when he was telling stories. But then he would go into political theory, and I'd have to plow through dozens of pages of nonsense trying to get to another story. I gave up when the chapter heading said, "Part 2".

My answer is still the same: Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson. It was my favorite book when I was four years old, and I still love it. I lent it to a friend to read a few months ago, and she thought it was great.

Also, if you pick up a book that consists of Hemingway's short stories, they're incredible...I actually prefer his short stories to his novels...I can't remember the title of my favorite, but it involves a flood in a small town and a male and female that get to know each other during the flood...That's my favorite Hemingway story...The man could really write in the short story form...Not to say his novels aren't great, but man, I'm telling you, his short stories are insanely impressive...

I'll also go with Hitchhiker's Guide. I have the complete, faux black leather collection I keep by my bed and pick up here and there just to enjoy a few chapters.

A few classics like Fahrenheit 451, 1984 and The Lathe of Heaven are also multiple re-reads.

Watership Down is my most re-read book. In fact, I’m overdue for another.

I think,I have that same faux leather collection. I’ve read the first three books multiple times, but still need to read the others.
