Yup. As mentioned in the what are you reading thread, I just finished Mystery and immediately started The Throat (both rereads, more than once). Straub was truly a master - King minus the homey populism - a true genius and gone too soon.

I've read his collaboration with King, looks like I'm missing out on some good stuff. What do folks recommend as a first read?

I would think his big breakthrough Ghost Story would be a good starting place. It's been a while since I've read it, but it is one of the few books I've read more than once. Straub's writing is more literary and slow-burn than King. The 1981 movie was a massive simplification of the novel ... if you saw it and weren't that impressed, the book has a lot more going on.
