Oh, I see. I should have guessed, knowing Watterson's campaign to get more space for comics strips.

Try and find a library or store with a display copy. I can't imagine not owning it but that's just me. I understand others might prefer the individual books for more practicality.

Quick C&H question: Do any of the individual books contain Bill Watterson's comments on the strip like the 10th Anniversary Book does? If so, which ones? Thanks!

Only the 10th Anniversary book and the "catalogue" for the C&H exhibit, if I remember correctly. The Lazy Sunday book may have some, but I'm not sure why I think that.

I want to say it was only in the 10th Anniversary Book. Good lord now that i think of it, I own just about every comic strip two times over. And sadly, I would buy them all over again.

After almost almost 2 years of a sitting on a shelf, I finally got around to opening my C&H hardcovers and I'm sure glad I did!!

These books may be large, heavy and cumbersome, but the quality is excellent and I'm glad I spent the $$ on it!!

Recommended for any C&H fan out there!

Wow, has it been almost 2 years already? I leafed through mine when I first got them, but haven't had the time to read them. I do most of my reading on the train to & from work. Can you imagine lugging those around?

The only bummer about the big C&H collection is that the pages are glued into the spine and not stitched in like a big nice hardbound book should be. This makes the pages more susceptible to becoming unattached and falling out - and the bigger and heavier the book (like the C&H books are) the more likely it is that it could happen.

I got this from Amazon on 11/1 for one of my son's christmas presents at $95 bucks. I requested a price adjustment which they denied. The site says it isn't available until 12/20. I started the return process and apparently I can still return the one I have and re-order it, but I'm concerned about when it would get here.

Not sure if any of you have seen it but there's a proposal for a Bill Watterson documentary that you can help fund on Kickstarter

I love the way the big collection looks but practicality wise I can't justify it (though I would love to have it on the shelf)...how can I open that thing up on my kitchen table while eating my chocolate frosted sugar bombs and not ruin it?

I'll wait to see if the binding is any better than the hardcovers.

What was wrong with the binding on the hardcovers?

I don't know that I've ever seen a sewn bound paperback book. These are probably straight cut and glued like just about every paperback ever. Glued binding is generally serviceable but not as good as sewn binding on a hardcover.
