Sorry for a dumb question, but what is an omnibus? Is this a hardcover? I am most interested in the Amazing Spiderman...

These are oversized hardcover releases. Here's the Spider-Man information from Marvel.com:

The Story: In 1962, in the pages of a comic book slated for cancellation, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko gave birth to one of the most-enduring icons in American popular media: the one and only Amazing Spider-Man! Turning the concept of a super hero on its head, they imbued the young, guilt-ridden Peter Parker with the fantastic powers of an arachnid and the fantastic pressures of an everyday teenager. The combination was pure magic.

During the course of 40 issues of web-slinging, wisecracking wonderment Lee and Ditko built the foundation for 45 years of Spidey spectaculars — girl trouble; bill trouble; bully trouble; the Daily Bugle; and a cast friends, family and, of course, super-villains unlike any other!

Completing the entire Stan Lee/Steve Ditko Spider-Man run in one massive volume —including every page, every pinup and every letters column. Not to mention unused covers, critical essays and bonuses galore!

We went back to the Mighty Marvel Archive to restore each and every page in this volume for painstaking accuracy to the originals. There’s no kidding — this collector’s edition is the guaranteed be-all, end-all book for the Spider-Man fan!

Collecting AMAZING FANTASY #15, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1-38 and ANNUAL #1-2, STRANGE TALES ANNUAL #2, and FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #1.

These books are way too big. I buy them. I love them. But man, they're huge. I wish they'd make two hardcovers and put 'em in a slip case instead of one giant book.

Richard, where did you get the Uncanny one? I'm still looking for one, but was hoping for a decent price.

I managed to win a sealed copy on eBay for $76.00. The seller has another auction that ends tonight with a current bid of $56.00.

I saw a few Spiderman Omnibus on Ebay for 69.99 buy it now. I also noticed a cover price of 99.99 for this book, can I assume this will be full color not like those lame B&W reprints Marvel has been putting out lately? I have to agree with the above statement..I am not a big fan of these huge books, too bulky to sit back and read in bed...

I agree. I got the Alias one and it looks great, but too hard to read.

They will be mine! Especially Spidey and FF vol. 2.

I like these Omnibus (Omnibi?) books because they include the original letter columns. A few of the letters were even written by fans who later worked for Marvel.

And to Shiv Shankly, yeah these books are printed on quality paper.

These will probably be 40% off at DCBS. I was thinking of getting the Spiderman one.

As large as these books are, isn't it likely that the binding will fail and they'll fall apart?

Especially if they are printed on glossy paper.

I think they just moved to sewn bindings, so that's help. But even with the ones I do have (FF, New X) I haven't seen a problem.

'Cause they're so huge you aren't able to actually read them?

That's true, I haven't read them, which certainly helps the spine stay together.

Anyone seen the new Daredevil Omnibus Variant cover? Looks sweeeeeeet. The "half a cover" thing means I won't be able to BroDart the thing, but that's okay when the book looks as cool as it does.

I have the Visionaries TPBs already but those extras are pretty tempting.

Can't say I've thought about Hembeck in a while...

That variant cover looks interesting, but I've got a problem with things not looking the same on the shelf, so I'll probably go with the regular version.

According to marvelmasterworks.com.

I just got volume 1 in the mail last week and have been reading it this past weekend. I had a few Masterworks volumes years ago, but I forgot how much fun it was to read these old stories.

Are they pretty good a packaging or are they like Amazon and just throw it loose in a box with a couple plastic bubbles?
