Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

Hasbro Pulse also has these cool Mattel Secret Wars looking Marvel figures. Man, they should really have released them at stores for kids, not collectors. The Secret Wars figures, along with the Super Powers, is what got me into comics

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

My recent purchase of a toy/action figure is the Star Wars Vintage Collection newer Return of the Jedi Jedi Knight Luke with the new better looking cape cloak and headsculpt. I put the head on the old deleted blu ray lightsaber construction figure.

Was it? I preordered it as soon as it was solicited on Pulse last year but it still seems to me like they missed the boat on merchandising season 1, at least for non hardcore fans. While Mando season 2 came out and was successful it didn't seem to have exactly the same buzz (at least the aunt I was going to give it to last year had moved on by this Xmas).

edited to add: my kids love it, though.

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

People were pay $80+ at Ebay for it and I don't think you can find it at Amazon unless you go to a 3rd party seller..

I was thinking of backing up the classic version but 60 bucks shipped for a figure sounds kind of high. It does look nice though.

Finally got a shipping notice for this, so it'll be here soon.

It's funny, when this was originally solicited I don't think I had bought a McFarlane figure (other than an occasional Sports one) in years, but since then I've gotten numerous DC and MHA figures from his company.

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

I just found out Hasbro Labs / Hasbro Pulse had a thing for the board game HeroQuest last fall and that is finally something I would pay big money for, but they say I'm too late. I called and was told they don't let people in, even though production isn't until fall. I'm bummed, I had no idea this was even happening. Do I have any options?

Sometimes stores like BigBadToyStore order kickstarter/crowdfunding extras to sell, but I don't see it on their site (they may not have done it this time because it's not a toy, or maybe they are waiting to closer to release date). But either way, once it comes out you'll have to pay aftermarket prices.

There is no way they didn't intend this to get buzz and relaunch the series, though. If you look at the crowdfunding page they are very careful to say what is an exclusive for backers. I am pretty sure at least the base game will eventually be available at retail unless this just totally bombs with reviewers when it comes out.

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

Neca announced and showed off their Gargoyles figures starting with Goliath:

It's not really a cartoon accurate design, more of a realistic one, but still looks great. I guess response was so good that they're closing preorders early

They've been making some great TMNT toys as well, but unfortunately a lot of them are Target exclusives which I have never seen. At least this seems like a more general release. They also confirmed this is going to be a line and not just a one-off:

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

The figure is cool, but I’ve never watched Gargoyles. Always have heard great things about it, and it seems cool, but somehow I just never got around to it. Maybe I’ll watch it on Disney+. Might throw in an order for the figure for the hell of it. I’m sure I could sell it if I don’t want it later on.

Did you get yours yet?

This video somehow simultaneously makes me regret not buying it but also reminds me the two main reasons I didn't buy it in the first place:
1. No room
2. The shellformer transformation is so complex I'd only do it like once or twice

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

Hopefully this is the correct thread for this, as I would classify it as "collectable". I found a neat poster (11x14) print of an old Golden Age Action Comic that I have much nostalgia for on Ebay. After receiving it, I checked out the company that produced it and found that I could've purchased it from them for a lot cheaper than Ebay! These posters are Golden and Silver Age DC covers - not exactly the best choices (in my humble opinion), but still some nice ones in the group. And they're only $4.95 each - as opposed to Ebay where people are selling them up to $20. If you are looking for some cool, old comic covers to jazz up your Man Cave walls, check out asgardpress.com. You have to buy a minimum of 3, but that was easy for me since there were a number of covers I have memories/history with. Shipping is $5.99, so overall 3 posters ran me only $20.84. Not bad! Here's the one I got off Ebay ...

I found this one at an antique store.

I have that, too! Can't recall when I got it, but I've had it forever! It's neat for what it is, but the prints are frameable quality. Plus I wanted to point out that they can be had at a great price from the manufacturer as opposed to Ebay.

I think I paid just about $5 for it.

Self transforming, programmable Optimus Prime. They got Kevin Smith to demo him for pulse, and it looks cool... but man 700 bucks, which is more than Unicron (I realize this has a lot of technology packed in it but still)

It’s cool, but I’m not nearly a big enough fan of Transformers to want it. Plus I feel like over time it may stop working properly. Electronics in toys never seem to last.

The problem I have is that those kinds of things usually look really dated within a few years because technology is just always evolving.

Re: The Official Toys and Collectibles Thread

Last few hours for kickstarter for the X-men expansion of C'mon's board game, Marvel United:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...l-united-x-men

The base game has been in Target and Walmart and places for a while now, and I'm sure this will be too, the draw is all of the KS only exclusives and the add in stretch goal miniatures. Plus Sentinels! And if you're really crazy you can buy the stuff from the base Kickstarter too.

Some really deep cuts in the miniatures, and the stretch goals include Alpha Flight members while there is an expansion for the FF. It's a pretty simplistic board game compared to others but my kids love it... I'm not so FOMO that I'm going to get everything but if you're an X-fan the base set even with shipping and waiting is a pretty decent deal for the sheer number of miniatures that come with it.

Got around to buying some frames the other day, and got these hung. The two middle pictures are from other sources, but the other four are from asgardpress.com. Came out nice!
