Boston Area! Newbury Comics 20% off DVDs

This is a pretty great deal, it's 20% off all DVDs even if they are already on sale. Most new releases are on sale today and you can get an extra 20% off, all used DVDs etc.

I think the sale goes until Saturday.

In case anyone is interested, i saw a copy of the Criterion Hitchcock set at the Newbury Comics in Hyannis for $115. That would be about $97 out the door during the sale. I already have a copy so I thought that I would pass this along.

Oh god no, don't tell me.

Used as well? Not that used is any bargain- it's usually more expensive than new online.

No and I resent the insinuation. As a matter of fact, I'm a student, so I don't work at all. I just saw something at this store that I happen to know is OOP and, from mentions I've seen in other threads and on other boards, that a good number of people are looking for.

Thanks for the tip Foggy. Might be a bit of a drive for me but I'll pass it along to a friend of mine in the area.

Cameron, I don't get why you'd even ask the question. This is an awesome sale if you can take advantage of it. If you're near a Newbury Comics this sale is as good as it gets -- arguably except for the DDD event. Sometimes Newbury's deal's are even better. I've already snagged some OOP titles (Return of the Pink Panther for $6) and there are plenty out there at every store.

I grapped a ton of Out of Print titles at the Alewife store in Cambridge yesterday.

I managed to fill in the holes in my Anchor Bay Hammer 2 Disc double features yesterday, they had them for 9.99 plus 20% off.

Thanks, Lastdays! Both the Govt Ctr and Newbury St locations are on my way home from work (the former just before I board the T, and the latter just as I get off!).

The one here in Amherst doesn't have the best selection but I'll still have to give it a shoot.

What would it even matter if someone DID work at Newbury Comics and posted about deals there? I'd love if more people who worked at stores like Newbury Comics would do just that. It's not like they get commissions for each DVD sold. Selling them doesn't give them any benefit at all. Some people around here are way too quick to attack people.

I just hit up the Harvard Square store on my lunch break and got some good stuff there as well. It's really only a good deal on used stuff, the new stuff, even with the 20% off tends to be more or on par with online prices.

It is a good deal on new releases this week though, which are already on sale. Sometimes when stuff dosen't sell the first week they forget to take the "on sale" stickers off it, so you can still get it for sale price even though it shouldn't have been on sale for months.

How does "do you work there?" and "not trying to offend" be taken as attacks? Non-issue

Uh, accusing somebody of committing a bannable offense can be taken as an attack in a number of ways. I'll list them all, of your question was an earnest one...but I assume that won't be necessary.

Working in a store and posting a deal is not a "bannable offense". If he was representing the store that would be different.

Lots of times store workers have disclosed deals here- in fact that is what makes this forum so great.

Hey Cameron,

No offense taken. I had just been reading the posting guidelines a little more closely since i noticed how many people were listed as banned in some of the older threads. I have actually been lurking here for a while. i was participating in the Share the Love exchange back when the program was still active but never signed up to post in the forums until now. Thanks to everyone for the welcome.

There's also a copy at the Nashua store on DWH.

I got the Patriots 2-Disc Super Bowl set 36 + 38 at the Hyannis store yesterday for $10.80 total, they still had two more copies. I realize that retail price on this is only 14.95 but I've seen the Super Bowl 36 disc by itself for sale for $40 and up. There was a new copy of the Criterion Eisenstein- The Sound Years, Alexander Nevsky, Ivan the Terrible Parts 1 + 2 (79.99 MSRP)priced at 39.99, $33.60 after discount and plus tax so I bought that for myself.
