I've never used DVD Planet before, but I just got a quote from them for some discs I want to sell.

But now the site won't even load. Is this site safe to sell discs to?

I put in six separate quotes earlier today, but I have not received e-mail confirmations as of yet. Is this typical for quotes done over the weekend?

I haven't been able to place an order for over 2 days. First the site seemed down for a long time, then it would come back and not work, and then it would be gone again.

Now, it's there but it won't let me sign in or place an order.

Is this also typical? I just started ordering there, but this seems to be odd and inconvenient.

They are owned by the same company that owns deepdiscount.com but for some reason dvdplanet.com has a much more buggy website. It's been like this for a long time.

In the past, it's always run to coincide with the DD sale, which appears to be November 7-23. And supposdely DD's sale is 25% off, so DVDPlanet may follow suit.

Can you still use the regular $5 of $60, $10 off $120, and $15 off $175 along with the 25% off sale?

They told me that the regular coupons would be working sometime this week.

I'm not sure if I believe them, but that's what they said.

Site is still screwed for me. It crashes, Blu-Ray tab leads to empty section, checkout doesn't work (An error happened while processing your request. ). Hope it gets fixed in time for the sale.

Usually not. I just submitted a quote this last weekend and got an immediate email confirmation so you might shoot them an email to see. - better yet, phone them.

Store Credit at DVDPlanet

My cart deducts my store credit automatically upon checkout. Is there anyway to get around that temporarily? Rather save it for a big order.

The only way I think people have found to get around it is by having two accounts.

The Band of Brother blu ray is $76, it's better than amazon.com after 25% off. I am wondering if I need to buy something this year.

Question about the Quote Machine.

With the sale already in effect, I've noticed that some of the items I quote, there was a higher quoted price prior to the sale.

Is this typical? If so, when's the best time to submit a quote and, hopefully, get a higher rate of return.

Are they skipping the regular coupons this month because of the sale? They told me they would available soon earlier in the week.

I'd like to place an order using the $10 off $120 for November for a bunch of pre-orders that come out on 12/2 and they still don't appear active.

This company has a lot of problems, it seems.

Seems odd that a company that increased the prices on a lot of dvds, already priced higher than most other e-tailers, just in time for their "sale" would then choose to give you less for your trade-ins during the same time period.

I'm not even going to ask what they do with the used dvds. They sure don't sell them.

After the price hike, I went to order Tropic Thunder and Wall-E thinking you could use the coupon more than once. Nope. Then tried the save coupon and it didn't work. So I did the math myself and, even with 25% off, the jacked up prices made the savings only like $3 total over what amazon was selling them for normally and amazon could always go down a dollar or two on both because they often try to be the lowest price.

You also shouldn't have to use store credit if you don't want to without opening a 2nd account, which no doubt they wouldn't be happy about if you did and used their promo code again.

I'm also hoping the site doesn't crash again as it has been. I don't have anything to trade again, so after December's orders, hopefully using a coupon, I might not shop there again much.

I noticed that something like the Planet Earth BR didn't seem to go up and even after 25% off, it's only $6 less than amazon's regular price. I guess it adds up if you find the right titles, but it's not that easy getting a great deal without some effort in my opinion and you'd better not forget a title or want to wait for a different time during the sale to place another order with just one use of the coupon code. Nothing worth waiting 6 months for in most cases anyway.

Sorry for the bitchfest, but, I was really looking forward to the big savings.
