Get all defensive and claim ignorance if you want, but come on now, it had two typos, and saved up to $175 per transaction, etc etc. You all knew it was a glitch.
I didn't catch the part about the typos until going back through the thread. As for the ridiculous savings, my theory at the time was that it was meant for DVDs, but accidently included games. I figured it was a glitch, but worth going in and asking about in case they honored it. They did. End of story. I don't think it's any different than if I saw, say, the complete Six Feet Under boxset at Best Buy with a $5 price tag under it. If I asked an employee if I could really buy one for $5 and they said yes, I wouldn't expect them to come after me days after I'd made the purchase for the balance of what the full price should have been. I doubt Blockbuster is really going after people for using the coupon, but if they do, they're 100% in the wrong and it's absurd. If the coupon was indeed a fraud or leaked or whatever, they need to track down the person who put it out there and go after him/her, not the customers that they knowingly gave the discount to.

Since when does logic run in the minds of employees of a corporation?

I was going to use my over $125 BBV credit left over from the $8 dvd buyback way back when...
You might want to use that credit as soon as you can. If you don't use a BBV card within a certain time (1 year or 6 months?), it becomes inactive. I learned this the hard way...

In California, at least, it's against state law for gift cards or gift certificates to lose value over time. In fact, my wife last year used a Tower gift certificate (only a few dollars on it) from 1993.

That should be how it is. I don't understand how they could make a giftcard, which is technically money, expire.

I believe those Simon Mall gift cards expire, and on top of that I think they also charge you a fee every fee weeks/months if you don't use the gift card.

Well, went to my local BBV and found 5 PVDs I wanted - but 4 were $9.99! Seemed a waste to use the coupon so I just got the 4 for $20 and saved the coupon for later.

I used the coupon and dont have one bit of guilt about it either. The manager looked at and commented what a great deal it was and I agreed. She even went on further to say that she would be suprised if it worked since it didnt have any stipulations attached. Then she scanned and it went through. She took my money ( paid by credit card and used my blockbuster account by the way) and I left. If Blockbuster even sniffles about charging more on my credit It will be law suit time.

Yeah, I tried once and for some pretty reasonably priced games/movies - all between $7.50 and $15. I got shot down and was fine with that.

I'm all for people indulging in whatever fits into their own morality but let's be honest - most people who used the coupon knew that Blockbuster didn't mean for it to be used that way. And that's cool. Just don't try to rationalize it like you didn't think that you were doing anything wrong.

I used to think it was a crappy thing to do but then I learned that some states make laws that say if the gift card isn't used within a certain amount of time, the company is supposed to give the money to the state.

Never heard of it before until my state, Oregon, was considering doing it a while back and it was in the news. I'm guessing it never got very far since I haven't heard anything in ages.

If the card has to lose money, I'd much rather the company get it back than the state who has even less right to it.

I don't care if it's fraud. You save money and I don't know why people are complaining. If you feel guilty, return it and buy the games for $150 if you want but I'm going to save money because not all people are rich, you know? Not all people can afford PS3's and X-Box 360's so I'm getting this chance to actually buy things I RARELY buy. ANYWAY, I'm waiting until like October 28 to use it because there will be more new previously viewed DVDs and games to buy, which is good.

I went in to my local BB tonight and looked around. There wasn't any sign on the door about this coupon, which surprised me. I wandered around looking to see what there was in DVDs and video games. I really wanted to get Bioshock for the 360, just for trade in credit somewhere else. I saw that they had NCAA 08 and Madden 08 for the 360 as well as Metroid Prime 2 for the Gamecube. I thought about grabbing those 4 games along with a DVD, but chickened out.

How do you plan on getting the coupon to work?

Because he's the wiz. And nobody beats him.

Also, according to the wiz's logic, people who are not rich should be able to acquire things fraudulently. Makes perfect sense.

My store does not take the coupon and I'm pretty sure this will get out to other stores very soon. I do work for Blockbuster and am just warning you, I'm pretty sure an e-mail will go out to stop people from using it.

Well, that was quite rude, vcuram. I was just expressing my opinion towards it. What if it does work? How do you know it's fraud? Didn't the OP state it came from a flyer (I didn't have time to read the other 155 posts)? And yes, I'm a new member to this site and now I regret registering.

You started your post by saying "I don't care if it's fraud". Basically, your post read like you'd use fraudulent means to get stuff you normally wouldn't buy.

I didn't mean to be rude and I'm not judging anyone for using or trying to use the coupon. I really don't care. I've taken advantage of some deals (none that I knew were fraudulent, though) here and there. Your post just gave the "I'm going to save some money, legalities be damned" vibe and I thought it was interesting.

You also didn't really read enough to find out that the coupon isn't working now (at most stores), so it probably won't work on October 28.

So I saw this on CAG earlier in the week and tried to use it on Tues and got shot down. Has corporate fixed the computer glich or is it still scanning? I may try again in a different area if it is still scanning. And I don't push the sale at all. I got denied and that is all no harm no foul.

Should I even bother trying or are all BBV aware of this now?

I saved an ASTONISHING $244.00 on games on Saturday. I know another person who picked up a bunch of Disney DVDs previously viewed that were selling for 39.99 each and got 5 of them for $25.00. Not much time left on this deal! HURRY!!!

EDIT...it didn't require any manager override for me to use it. The employee just scanned my games and took off the amount. I will post the receipt tomorrow.
Thanks, but this post sounds like you are promoting a sale in an infomercial or something. You forgot "supplies are limited!"

This coupon is very much dead. Even if your store does not have the signs out saying this coupon is "fake," the coupon scans as being expired on the 15th. The coupon lasted less than 24 hours once it was posted, sadly.

All that aside many thanks to the OP for the coupon. Scored 20 good games for 100.00. Can we please add dead to the subject title though?

.

Looks like Shrike4242 from HDTV Arcade Forums managed to score a PS3 out of this coupon.

That is pretty slick.

From HDTV Arcade Forum(5 DVDs OR Games at Blockbuster $25, RUN):

I managed to hit up 5 BB/Game Rush's yesterday before the coupon became voided.

I scored the following for $125 +tax:
FIFA 08 (ps3) x2
Madden 08 (ps3) x5
GRAW2 (ps3) x3
Madden 08 (x360) x4
Elder Scrolls IV GOTY (x360) x1
NHL 08 (x360) x2
Mario Strikers Charged (Wii) x2
Mario Party 8 (Wii) x2
Resistance Fall of Man (ps3) x1
Spider-Man 3 (ps3) x1
Tiger Woods 07 (ps3) x1
MLB 07 The Show (ps3) x1

Then, for the past two days, I have been trading these in at various EBStop's. This afternoon, I took my $600 store credit and picked up a PS3 and pre-ordered Guitar Hero 3 for PS3.

So, for around $140 and a tank of gas, I picked up:
PlayStation 3 (60 GB Version)
Madden 08
Spider-Man 3
Resistance : Fall of Man
Tiger Woods 07
MLB 07 The Show
Guitar Hero 3 Bundle
