Success! I went back this morning to the first store I'd price-checked with yesterday, rolled the dice and tried an actual sale transaction out. The associate rang up the boxed set and said, "That'll be $30.xx." then, as I was delaying the transaction by acting like I was having trouble getting my wallet out of my back pocket, he said, "Uh, scratch that--it will actually be $22.xx." Wickedness!!! Not sure what I would have said or done if the instant coupon had never appeared, he he...

Just grabbed one from the Kennett Square, PA store for $22.26 They still had about 5 or 6 left too! The clerks were surprised when the coupon appeared, but the transaction was flawless.

I'm now curious of why there's a discount of $6.99 so late in the transaction. Not complaining, mind you, just wondering if anyone else notice this kind of discount on other purchases. Is it some kind of deal Lions Gate made with Blockbuster or something?

I've seen quite a few new releases at Blockbuster for sale... They were expensive ($20+ for a regular release), but they do sell new DVDs.

Blockbuster got a new CEO recently. If anything, there's going to be MORE of a focus on selling retail DVDs than ever before under current plans. They're going to try and high-end the place. Use the newly acquired Movielink to install kiosks that'll let people download at the store. Coffee-bar (which I dread). My store just got a bunch of framed artwork that's in the 30-40 dollar range.
Anyway, the coupon late in the transaction is not a new thing. In the BB system, auto-coupons aren't applied until the transaction is totalled. Most employees aren't aware of it because it's technically not out yet. I'd bet new of the sale will be in next weeks info.

The first three parts of the six-part Saw trilogy.
All the Blockbusters I've been to sell DVDs (for more than your local Best Buy/Circuit City but slightly less than the overpriced Borders/Barnes & Noble), though what they're big on selling are obviously the used titles.

However, it still remains possible so I recommend doing what I did--take advantage of Blockbuster's offer on the Trilogy set immediately, in case it's an error that they'll soon catch (which surely it must be--I mean, $21 for a set that retails for $49.98 can't be intentional, right?), and leave it sealed until next Tuesday rolls around. Then, if no retailers offer any better exclusives for Saw III alone, open it and enjoy. If they do offer a better exclusive, just return the Trilogy set to Blockbuster and you're no worse for wear. You know you'll be kicking yourself if this deal is temporary and you miss out on it.
