Buy From DD via Buy.com and use Google Checkout

All I have to say is wow...

Buy.com is now selling dvd's via DeepDiscount as part of their marketplace on their site... you get DeepDiscount's price and free shipping... through Buy.com's checkout... and it qualifies for Google Checkout $10 off....

all I have to say is... SPECTACULAR.

Can you use Google Checkout more than once? I've never used it before.

The answer is Yes and No... you should seek out some of the google checkout threads to learn more.

From what's I've seen on the store forum, DD's been struggling with their 'expansion' - I wonder if this is an early step to a buy.com buyout.

Doubt it. Probably the other way around. Buy.com is now an affiliate of DeepDiscount.

is there a way to specifically view deep discount marketplace stock items only? i assume it's not their entire stock, only certain items that they've made available...

so far from what I've seen, there is no way to filter... most popular titles show up as the deep discount price by default... because DD is cheaper then buy.com on a large percentage of titles... other then that you need to just check one by one...

also so far it seems titles priced at less then $10 don't qualify for the google checkout, even if you add multiple items under $10

deep discount titles can be found here. when you first click on one of the titles, deep discount isn't always listed in the 3 or 4 that always show up on the right hand side under 'marketplace buying choices'

just click on the 'See all X new' link below the google logo in that box and you will get the full list

I just get a list of all the Blu-ray titles when I click that link.

But how does this work for tax? Buy.com charges me tax, but DDD doesn't.

Also, that Google Checkout thing is a joke--is there anyone left in the world that still even qualifies for the $10?!

I get taxed in California when buying Deep Discount marketplace orders from Buy.com. Are you taxed from Buy.com when placing non-Marketplace orders?

That would spell disaster for our wallets. BUY is not competitive and would destroy DD.

my mistake - i thought i was normally taxed... i am not ever taxed from buy.com so this becomes irrelevant.

I agree.

Buy.com has been in the toilet for years.

I have a Buy.com credit card. I've had it for years. *shudder* It's hard to proudly use that card anywhere any more.

I was formerly a fan, but they've certainly gone way downhill. Actually, uphill and downhill. They went from completely unreliable to fairly solid and then back to their roots.

My guess is buy.com has gone or is going from completely selling everything themselves to farming out everything. I took advantage of all the crazy coupons from buy back in the day, but after the dot com bust (probably my fault), I never really bought any dvd's from them as used titles popped up everywhere, and deep discount came into being. Buy probably just decided, if you can't beat them, join them.

The DD prices are back at buy.com. Tried using Google checkout and got a cancellation because they said they couldn't verify my information (which was correct).

Is this the kind of message you get when you try to use the Google checkout more than once or is this just buy.com's way of saying me they don't want to sell the DVDs that cheap?

Has anybody got buy.com to honor DD's price with a Google checkout??

I don't thin what you are seeing has anything to do with Google checkout. For some reason, DeepDiscount items seem to drop off of Buy.com at random. This actually happens fairly frequently. Sometimes they come back and sometimes they don't. When you place an order and the item drops off before your order ships, your order gets cancelled.
