And I got my order. Blockbuster cases on a few, but I don't see any notable scratches. I'll try them out in a few and edit back with condition, but they were very fast. 3 days.

EDIT: Well all were fine. One of them, Smokin' Aces won't play in my computer, but works fine in my cheapo dvd player. I find that odd, since usually it's the other way around. Works though. I'm pleased.

Quick question: Has anyone ever received a dvd from here with the slipcover? I'm pondering adding Ghost Rider 2 Disc (I'm not sure if I can turn down that 2 disc for 6 bucks), but I am almost confident that the respective slipcover will be absent. Anyone have any experience with these?

EDIT: Anybody had any luck with steelbooks?

Theres no way my 'Traffic - Criterion' and 'Casino Royale - David Niven spoof' were used. Both were sealed and still had all the factory sealed stickers along all three sides. Just had an orange 'used' sticker stuck on them. Opened them, and not one scratch, mark or smudge.

Am sure they are dumping excess inventory. Not that I am complaining but am very happy.

The sale is over? I was going to make another order. It's a good thing it's done though since I don't want to be broke from this... Yeah.

Got several orders in today. Received in excellent/like new condition: Tori Amos (American Doll Posse); Mary Black (Without the Fanfare); Peter Case (Man With...Blue Guitar). The Tori Amos had a hole punch in UPC so was a promo; others were really nice.

Received in HORRIBLE (unacceptable) condition: Pixies (Best--Wave of Mutilation). This CD had scuffs, many scratches (in several directions), specks of dirt, etc...the kind of CD that MIGHT sell for $1 in our local used bookstore IF they accepted it...which is doubtful. Since it ended up costing $6.98 with tax, I'm sending it back (predictably, it skipped on a couple of tracks). The irony is that I passed up a used copy for $8 recently waiting for the once-a-week $2 off used product sale (it was gone on that day).Their new copies are only around $10, I believe, so I was very disappointed. Still, 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Now I'm hoping that the Traffic Criterion will be in good shape when it arrives (maybe even sealed as one poster mentioned).

I was hating that I left behind or forgot a few (such as the 2 Death Cab CD's mentioned in an earlier post...still available used from them)...that is, until I saw the Pixies CD and remembered what a crapshoot it is when buying used CD's through the mail. That's why I always want to be able to personally inspect them prior to buying them. The hassle of returning damaged copies isn't worth it; thankfully, this one is in such bad shape (one of the worst used copies I've seen) that there shouldn't be any problem getting a refund/replacement.

I was a bit nervous after reading about the condition of some people, but my Traffic Criterion came in today. It's not in as good of condition as laidbacklarkin's, but it was close. It had three security stickers on it, the top being the original Criterion one that I guess the previous owner removed when he popped the disc out. It came with the insert as well as the 2002 Criterion catalogue. The discs are immaculate. The only problem I could find is on the lower front of the cover at the spine, there's a fairly minor tear on the slipcover, but well worth the $8.62 I paid.

To those who have less than fantastic condition items sent to them, did you have to send back your items? Only one time in the past, I had a game that did not include the instruction manual. I emailed them and they told me just to keep the game and they'll give me a refund since they guarantee excellent condition with all original elements (inserts, instructions, etc). Are they now asking for people to send back the item? I'm pretty sure it's a policy that some people might exploit and I don't want to deal with the hassle in case I genuinely get a bad looking disc.

I hope you're right about the no-need-to-return policy. I'm careful not to abuse return policies, especially when I'm saving a lot of money overall. With the clubs, I usually keep any floaters with minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play & chalk it up to the cost of getting cheap CDs/DVDs. I sort of hate to 'bite the hand that feeds me', so to speak, especially when it's not their fault (any sealed disc can become loose during shipping even with secure packaging) if the carrier throws it around enough.

I probably should have tried another order (and forgot that the stock keeps changing...I tried for Band of Horses but no luck, although noticed that someone else scored one of theirs) and searched more thoroughly (forgot to try to complete my Tom Waits collection, for instance. Still, the deals weren't so spectacular that it's worth losing sleep over. Found some hard-to-get CDs at good prices, but most of the others can be found new for a few bucks more.

Anyway, thanks for the tip about the return policy. I'll definitely email them & describe the condition of the damaged Pixies CD...maybe I'll even get to keep it (most of the tracks play fine & I can program around the two or three that skip). No chance to recycle it elsewhere, though.

I recently bought quite a few used DVD's/CD's at your latest sale, and one of them came to me in pretty bad shape. The case was cracked, and the disc was heavily scratched and scuffed, and it skips. It was "The Barber" order #XXXXXXX. What are my options here??
thanks

bah - i ordered best in show. it's one of those old snapper cases. it arrived with the little ring destroyed and the disc floating. but there were no little plastic pieces inside - leading me to believe it was like that when shipped. the disc is badly scratched and doesn't play all the way through. just sent an email - so we'll see.

this is my 4th or 5th used order w/ them - and everything was good till this point. can't help wonder if theres a connection between quality and this new big discount...

i returned an import dvd that wherehouse.com wrongfully sent me (it was supposed to be a Region 1 collection...don't know HOW that slipped past them...) and i sent it over 2 1/2 weeks ago and apparently it has "still not been processed for return"...something is a little fishy about that situation and i would really like to get to the bottom of it..

but other than that i received my second order from this sale today! i also noticed it was sent priority mail! NICE! hope my other 2 packages are sent that way as well!

Hey they are running a new promoion now (free shipping). My question is do they have a new promotion every week or should I jump on this free shipping deal? Any help would be appreciated because I am a rookie when it comes to wherehouse.com (surprisingly I have some credit to burn and didnt get in on the past deal simply because I AM DUMB).
