Ordered one title -- FF: Rise of the the Silver Surfer -- and to my surprise they sent me the box set double feature containing FF (the first movie) and Silver Surfer.

Got my order in today and was surprised to find several bootlegs. I'm not talking about quality bootlegs either. They were fullscreen, VHS quality transfers. SecondSpin.com has definitely lost me as a customer.

Edit: That last sentence was a bit harsh. I'm disappointed with my order, but I'm sure it was an unintentional mistake. Second spin is a legit shop, and these things happen once in a while when dealing with used discs. I'm shipping the titles back for replacements, so this issue is resolved for me. My follow-up post reflects this as well.

Care to tell us which titles these are?

Deceiver, Mother's Boys, and In the Company of Men. I'm certain of the first two, the third I'm not 100% sure. The cover art looks like a photocopy and the artwork is crooked. The transfer is lousy as well.

I contacted Second Spin about this and they said I could ship them back for replacements. I think that's a fair deal and I consider this issue resolved.

I'll admit, I got a little hot and went a bit overboard with the "I'm not gonna shop there anymore" declaration. The company resolved my issue, and I'm satisfied. My order gets a thumbs down, but Second Spin's customer service gets a salute from me.

I got my first of three orders today, everything was in good shape. The only problems I had were one of my Looney Toons set had the case taped into the slip case, and it was a bitch to get off, it ripped some of the case.

AND my Boondocks season 1 had two discs threes and no disc 1

I received my first 10 movie order (with 12 discs) on Monday. No bootlegs in my order. Of the 10 movies/12 discs:

8 perfect discs
1 ex-rental (hub sticker is the only indication), light scratches
2 lots of light scratches
1 big/bad scratch

I've played the two worst looking discs, no problems. Look great upconverted!

Waiting on my second order of about 10 more movies.

They mailed my Eraserhead on Friday and I got it on Monday (I live halfway across the country). It was sent first class even though I used the coupon for free ground shipping. The invoice didn't list the amount, so I hope they didn't accidentally charge me for upgraded.

I'm still waiting on the other orders that shipped early last week. This first order was in great condition, but I'm afraid those heat sealed envelopes are going to do a number on the 2 box sets I ordered that shipped individually.

Take note ... most of their inventory.. did not came from secondspin

its a mixture of USED DVDS compiled from the closed franchise stores of TWEC (Suncoast, Sam Goodys, Coconuts, Saturday Matinee, FYE, Wherehouse)

just call or email them and they usually just sent you out a copy without asking for the damaged one back. your disappointment will go away.

Received my items yesterday and while opening them up this morning, I was disappointed to find that Boogiepop Phantom Vol. 4 has a Vol. 3 disc inside, and my Azumanga boxset is pretty damaged (tears, stains, dents and adhesive residue all over) but at least the discs are in good condition.

How does Second Spin handle exchanges? Boogiepop was only $3 with the discount, so I'm not sure it'd even be worthwhile to send back as opposed to just ordering another copy.

I had purchased the Unsolved Mysteries: Ghosts set with HEYNOW, and received it today. It only came with 3 of the 4 discs. The other discs were pretty badly scratched up, and the case itself was filthy, sticky, and had some hair stuck to it. WTF? I usually don't have issues with these guys, but I sent one hell of an email to customer service.

I've had a few issue with the 4 orders I've placed with them and they have always sent out a replacement free of charge without asking for the damaged one to be sent back. The only one they couldn't replace was the Fight Club steelbook edition because they were out of stock so they gave me a credit.

My biggest problem with them is that for some reason everything i order from secondspin.com / wherehouse.com gets routed through Sweden instead of coming straight to Canada. I don't know how this is happening but it only happens with them.

I got my order today. Everything is in good shape, but I ordered the Cutie Honey LE and the just sent the regular edition, not the LE which was supposed to be in a lunchbox. I guess I'll send them an email in a bit and see if they actually have the lunchbox set. I kind of doubt it but I'll give it a shot.

I also received the bulk of my stuff today. Most of it was in good shape, with one exception - a DVD was severely scratched and cracked, plus the artwork was tattered and had a hole going through the title on the spine. This one should have gone in the junk bin instead of being boxed up and mailed to me. I wrote in to tell them about it and they issued a refund within 15 minutes (since it was out of stock). Amazing service.

The box sets were better than I expected, all things considered. The Strangers With Candy set was sent in a cardboard mailer that was too small and it flattened the folder the series comes in, but it was nothing major considering how flimsy the packaging design was to begin with. All 6 discs were dull and had swirly streaks like they'd been put through a buffing machine, but the other used DVDs (sans the one I mentioned earlier) were pristine.
