$5 off The Golden Compass in USA Weekend

In my Sunday paper there is the 'Parade' style USA Weekend included, on page 5 there is a full page ad for The Golden Compass. At the bottom is a coupon to save $5 instantly either the DVD or Blu-Ray versions of the film.

Coupon good only from 4/29/08 thru 6/1/08

On the cover of the USA Weekend "magazine" (or whatever you call it) is 3 people inside a home being built and a headline of "Make a Difference Day Awards"

Thanks ! Usually I don't find these coupons until it's too late. Deciding on either getting the 45 mins extra version (SD) or Blu-Ray. Anyone know if Blu-Ray has extra length as well ?

the 45 minutes of extra length is on a separate disc. It's not extended into the movie at all. so no difference in terms of the actual playtime between the SD and BD

^ I would but I don't have a scanner at this time. I will tell you that the coupon is Golden in color with white lettering, the small print is very difficult to read. The codes are as follows.

5 9404310074 7 (8101)0 10025 0608

Plus there is a sweepstakes shown on the same page with a link of www.usaweekend.com/compass

This same coupon is in People this week as well. "World's Richest Kids" is on the cover.

Now if there was only a good deal on Golden Compass blu-ray to use this on.

Yes, I would really appreciate it if someone could post a scan...could not find the USA Today magazine today. Golden Compass was flawed but for $10 it is worth a buy.

I think the cheapest BR copy of Compass is at Costco for $26.99. I've never tried a (non-costco) coupon at a costco, do they accept them?

No--Costco only takes their own coupons.

Sweet. Thanks, davron.

Will combine this with an RZ coupon and pick up the 2-Disc edition (w/ bonus disc) at Best Buy for 12.99.

I'm an old fart and that doesn't tell me anything except to edit a photo or whatever. I don't have any programs to edit photos or the likes there of (to cheap). If someone is going to place it on here then I'll wait for that kind person to do so since I found the site. Never had the time to learn any of the editing programs since I don't own any. They were all on my old hard drive before it got infected with a virus and I lost everything.

I wonder if you can combine it with the Target $5 off coupon? That would bring the blu ray down to $19.99.

Tried it at Wal Mart this morning. The clerk said that because the picture (1 disc) didn't match that of the 2-disc I wanted, I couldn't use it. A manager then came over (which I was hoping would be a good sign to allow me to use the coupon), and she said that Wal Mart does not accept Internet coupons anyway.

Thanks for the heads up on this coupon! I am going to give it a blind buy based on William Donahue's recommendation.

Quick aside: I predict you'll be disappointed. Movie weakest of the last several years fantasy-type films. Very mediocre film. Had potential, but poor execution.

On topic: I will seek the coupon to buy the store exclusive(s) of course.

Just used the $5 off Scanned coupon (didn't have a chance to try to track down an original in the paper, etc.) at Best Buy for the 2-Disc Golden Compass plus Bonus Disc. They tried scanning the coupon a couple times and then had to call a manager who told them to hit the manufacturer's coupon button and put in the $5 amount. Thanks for posting the scan, it worked!

For those of you that used the scanned coupon successfully, how were you able to get a good printout because the small type listing the details of the coupon are so blurred?

Any help greatly appreciated as I am going in a couple hours to buy a copy too.

Thanks!
