once the above ships (at least those which are already released) i'll place my 2nd order for the Eclipse boxsets.
Curious, I have never purchased pre-orders online during the sale before but do pre-orders hold up your shipment until its released? Or do they ship the pre-orders later?

Wish the Von Sternberg were on sale right now....I think they'll fix that later (I remember this happened before).

i'm not sure too but i only added them to my cart because the 50% discount was showing up for those 3 titles yet to be released. i wouldn't mind either way if they ship all 14 titles at once.

EDIT - and yeah i was wondering the same about the Von Sternberg set.

Of course it is. Especially when it offsets tax, for those who have to pay it.

Re: November Criterion Sale

The main thing I wanted from this sale was the 3 Silent Classics by Josef Von Sternberg (and Ozu’s “Story of Floating Weeds/Floating Weeds”) but oh well, hopefully they fix it in few days.

Ended up getting:

Eclipse Series 22 – Presenting Sacha Guitry
Eclipse Series 24 – The Actuality Dramas of Allan King
Crumb
La Ronde
Le Plaisir
Louie Bluie
Thin Red Line
Early Summer
Night Train to Munich

Aside from the Von Sternberg which I hope they make it 50% off, The other ones I probably may get near the end is “Modern Times” (if the sale lasts through Nov. 16th) and I’m still debating on Eclips ee Series 1: Early Bergman which I still haven’t bought yet.

Speaking of Bergman, still need to pick up “Sawdust and Tinsel” and maybe “The Magician” but I have a lot of Bergman I have yet to watch still.

Used the AAA B&N link for the 10% off.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Eight Criterion BDs, including the Nov. 16 releases, plus I chucked in Apocalypse Now; Full Disclosure Edition to benefit from the savings in postage - all scheduled to ship Nov. 22. Excellent.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Every single store in Manhattan is sold out of the Von Sternberg set

And for months now, A Christmas Tale Blu-ray is still not available in any stores in Manhattan either.

Also, can anyone confirm that the in-store sale starts tomorrow, and not today? Thanks

It should be $20 in-store. I just reserved a title for pick-up and my e-mail confirmation has the price listed as $20.

If you are referring to the 3 silent Von Sternberg set, Lincoln Center BN is showing it is available for in store pickup per the website. Unless you tried it and they said it wasn't available.

Yes, it says it is available, but when you try to reserve it it is saying it is actually out of stock....thanks anyway.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Sale runs 11/1 - 11/21. Sometimes you can pre-order/pre-pay for immediate pending releases at sale price.

The sale goes through the 21st. Those two titles come out on the 16th.

Same here. I won't be near a B&N until tomorrow and the ability to use coupons in-store will have a big effect on how many Criterions I pick up.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Forgot to mention...for those who like to go in-store, here is an Criterion Collection excel spreadsheet I created for your cell phones. It also includes Maltin scores, Ebert and Criterion Top 10 selections which are color coded. Hope this helps!

Don't believe the pop out window saying it's out of stock. I think there's an error in their system. I received confirmation on two items that both said that in the pop up window.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Just back from my local BN.

I'm a member, I was able to use two coupons on separate orders, one for Seven Samurai and the other for House.

Seven Samurai came to $17.50 & tax. This was from a $49.95 retail.

Folks will be glad to know that House, a regular $40 Criterion, rang up as $20 exactly and therefore was eligible for the $5 coupon.

So the rules are the same as the last sale. Coupon mileage will vary upon the cashier, as always.

Re: November Criterion Sale

I bought blu rays of Charade and Paths of Glory. 2 coupons no problem. $13.00 each plus tax. Includes 10% off for members in store. I will miss the Lincoln Center store in NYC when it closes in January 2011. It always has the best selection of Criterions and I have never had a problem with using coupons.
