I have an audio problem

So my friend comes over and we are watching TV using the TV's speakers when he decides we should output through my 5.1 speakers. We get it to work by adding a composite wire from my TV to the receiver and fiddling around with the controls of the TV and receiver. Anyways, after he leaves, I find that my DVDs no longer have sound. I can only play DTS DVDs for some reason. I tried undoing the TV setup but still can't get it back to normal. I even reset my receiver and took out the composite wire. I would appreciate any help. One thing...the FM radio from my reciever also still works so I don't think it's a hardware problem.

Also, I'm connecting the DVD to receiver using an optical cable. No wires were changed other than the addition and removal of a red/white composite cable.

I am not sure I have enough information to help you. Perhaps your friend could undo whatever he did. It sounds like there is a setting that has been changed somewhere with respect to inputs on some piece of equipment.
