Re: Logitech to unload Harmony line after 'disappointing' quarter
I thought the Harmony series was a very nice bridge between the cheapy, manual-program 20 buck ones, and the hard core 300-500 macro ones.
Loved my 676, only reason I got a new one was I dropped the 676, and replaced it with a 7 series. I don't like the keypad layout as much, and the webportal/appportal account stuff was really confusing.
But I've been very happy with mine and hope they continue making them.
Oh, also, as much as I use my smartphone, I don't want it to be my remote. My battery's usually pretty dead by the time of day I'm watching tv anyway.

Re: Logitech to unload Harmony line after 'disappointing' quarter
So I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Harmony Ultimate. I have a setup where my components are far away from my TV and thus I need the IR capability. I'm not going to go into a long review but in a nutshell, this remote kicks ass. I've had about 4 generations of Harmony's and this one is my favorite. The touch screen works very well (good button push feedback) and the macros for choosing channels is a breeze. My kids can push a button of "The Disney Channel" that looks like Mickey Mouse ears instead of trying to remember the station - bonus! The only downside is that every time you have to update your remote or sync it, you need to bring the hub with you --- it's quite a pain in the arse to disconnect and reconnect that thing. But overall I give it a 9/10.
