Plasma is dead....

Re: Plasma is dead....
It is not professionally calibrated, but I did use calibrated settings for the model I have that was posted on either AVS or HTF.
Sharpness was only at 20, but I will see if it makes a difference.

Putting the sharpness to 0 did not help and it seemed to even look worse...

Re: Plasma is dead....
Are there specific settings for the different colors in the TV? Gamma, brightness, contrast, color settings for red, green, and blue separately are available in some sets. If you have problems with one color, it may be fixable in these specific areas. But it's not easy.

Re: Plasma is dead....
I went to the store with the idea of getting a mid-tier LED to replace the 37" Plasma that's something like 12 years old. I couldn't do it, especially after walking past the OLED.
Those OLED sets can't some down in price soon enough.

I brought my friends over to see my new 64" plasma. They were baffled, insisting that it looked exactly like the 55" LED they had and their house, and suggested I turn on soap opera mode to make it "look good," then proceeded to criticize me for spending money on it like it was somehow their business. If I'd killed them, I wouldn't have had to drive them home....

Yup, I have one friend who watches shit like that, and I absolutely hate it.

I bought a Panasonic 65" 3D in 2012 and now half of the screen has a grid on the screen and tried unplugging it and the problem will not go away.
Guess Plasmas were not built to last 20 years?
The picture and color still look great until this problem came up.
It is working now but only a matter of time before the colored grid lines appear again.

I love my Panny plasma (bought about 3 years ago) and I'm bummed I won't be able to buy a new model when my current one dies (which hopefully isn't too soon).
I'm going to blame this on the general, uninformed public, buying bright LCDs instead of plasmas with their better, smoother warmer image.

I mostly like the smooth motion on it, which looks better to me than even the new fancy 4K TVs.

Yeah, when I upgraded to a 4K set right before the pandemic started, I moved my Panny 50" plasma to another room. What I also did was update the firmware to it. I've had no issues with it and it still looks great.

I have one in the living room and it's still going strong. It pre-dates HD but has "enhanced definition", which was all the rage for about 2 weeks back in the day lol. No HDMI inputs at all.
I also have a Pioneer Kuro plasma in the upstairs theatre room that I wouldn't trade for anything ...

Maybe the picture quality was better than LCD back in the day.
720p content looks horrible on a 4K TV especially on a bigger screen but looks great on a Plasma.

I'm still loving my 65" Panasonic TC-P65S60 plasma. It is plenty big and still looks so good. It's not 4K but that's fine for me. I've had it for 10 years and it needs to completely die before I replace it. Still going strong!

Don't know I waited 11 years to check if the Panasonic could connect to the internet but get a message I need to update the software and I did not and the onscreen message says the software is up to date with the current version but it won't connect to the internet or any apps?

I do the same with my Sony blu-ray player but it would have been nice to see how those apps worked on the TV.
I use the wireless option with the Uber Network password.

I think Plasma according to that video beat OLED in motion resolution with no strobing or flashing.
Is QLED not a outdated technology?
I thought that was the breakthrough technology with Samsung but now they have OLED TVs.

RIP to my 2012 65" Panasonic 3D TV
A lot of great memories watching movies, TV shows, and NFL games on that TV.
