What do we think of Hisense brand TVs?

Re: What do we think of Hisense brand TVs?
I went ahead and picked up the Hisense 50" Class - R7G5, it’s a model from Costco for $360. No frills since this is for my kids play room. Good quality for what it’s worth, has HDR, DV/DA, and Roku. Plenty happy as I wasn’t looking for anything high end or HDMI 2.1, etc.

Re: What do we think of Hisense brand TVs?
So we listed our current LG on OfferUp last week and there was a guy planning to come on Sunday to buy it and we would apply the money to a new TV but he totally ghosted us and we decided we didn't want to spend extra money to replace a perfectly good TV at this time, especially with our kid getting into expensive band stuff.
So, sorry to bother ya'll with the question, hope it helped somebody!

I haven't followed the details, but is anyone worried about putting a Chinese communist party web device onto your home internet network? Or does some US regulatory body somehow prevent the possibility that the CCP can install spyware into the TV thus into your other connected devices.

They're already following us on FaceBook and TikTok and all that.
I don't think it's a non-issue, but it's also not as big as some make it out to be.

I've had a cheap Hisense 55" HDTV for about 4 years, and I have had zero trouble with it. The only thing I don't like is that it's a Chinese brand.

That's not what I meant, and you know it, Blu. China is a totalitarian country rife with corruption and exploitation. I am loath to support that with my money, but it's nigh-impossible to avoid if one needs to buy anything at all. The Western companies, in their race to the bottom, are much more culpable than the Chinese, who merely took advantage of unconscionable corporate greed.

I'm not certain I knew it was a Chinese brand when I bought it, but what difference would it have made? Thanks to the globalization mongers in power since the 1980s, doing the bidding of the multinationals on whose boards they have friends, domestically-made items virtually no longer exist, at least here in Canada. And again, it's not the Chinese people with whom I have a quarrel, but the affluent Western puppeteers who brought about this ineluctable state of affairs.
Jeez, I didn't know there were any advocates of "Xi Thought" on here. And the notion that China is anything resembling communist, or even socialist, is hysterical. It's a capitalist autocracy.

^ I'm not on any social media sites (except, ironically, LinkedIn, to which I was invited) and don't own a cellphone of any kind. However, as a (fading) film enthusiast, I must own equipment to watch films. I do find it amusing that you think China is a communist country. It's not quite Pinochet-era-Chile or current-days-Somalia laissez-faire capitalism, but it bears no resemblance to economic Marxism.

Once these expats become naturalized citizens of america or a european country, they are no longer citizens of the people's republic of china. (ie. China does not recognize dual/multiple citizenships). These expats become america or europe's problem.

Back to the topic at hand, are there ANY "good" deals on larger sets still available? I think 2021 will be the "year without a Black Friday" in the sense that no deals of any kind will happen. Companies may try to fool and bamboozle us by unloading a few of their crapola products that have been sitting unsold for years, but there won't be any true deals on the good stuff.

Breakfast NOOK. Damn boy, don’t make me go over and slap ya.
They don’t fool us in any way, the BF sales are usually the “crapola” products they need to clear their stock of. The high end and better models see marginal price drops, if any at all.

Re: What do we think of Hisense brand TVs?
In the bigger scope of things, think about how much an OLED was a few years ago. 85” OLED now is attainable at a price that isn’t the same as a car.

Re: What do we think of Hisense brand TVs?
But, still, the "bang for buck" on that 77" is the best value, and very tempting, indeed! Prices have come way down on OLEDs, but what about reliability and longevity? Probably come way down, too.
