Marantz AVR Stopped Recognizing Chromecast With Google TV
The title basically says it all. Marantz SR7007 things were working fine then one day I selected the Google TV and got the message "no signal, is it on?". Changed the Google TV to each of the HDMI inputs and same message. All other input devices work properly.
Thought the Google TV went bad so got another one. This one worked fine for a few months then suddenly the "no signal..." message. Both times I had not changed any receiver settings.
I decided to check both Google TVs plugged directly into my TV and they both work fine. They also work fine on all the other TVs in my house so it looks like for some reason the SR7007 decided to not recognize the Google TV for some reason.
I've gone through all the receiver settings and all the Google TV settings and nothing I have done has solved the problem. Just strange that they both worked for several months then the same problem developed. Any ideas about where I should look next?

Very interesting. I don’t use Chromecast any, but Marantz is part of Denon, my main receiver. I wonder if this has happened to Denon receivers a well.

Re: Marantz AVR Stopped Recognizing Chromecast With Google TV
I have a Marantz SR7007. While I think it has good sound, I've always found it to be somewhat flaky.
I don't have a Chromecast, but I do have a Firestick 4k. I vaguely recall having an issue with it not recognizing the Firestick, a couple of months ago. I think my solution was to unplug the receiver to effectively 'restart' it.
My next receiver will not be a Marantz (or Denon, because of the close ties), despite me having Marantz equipment since I was a teenager (~40 years ago). There have just been too many frustrations with it. Streaming music from my iPhone just stops playing, for no reason. The receiver should automatically turn off when I turn my TV off, but this only works about 1 in 10 times. When it doesn't work, it briefly mutes for a second or two, then the audio returns. I then have to turn it off via the remote. The remote, itself, is one of the worst remotes I've ever had. The display has been almost unreadable since it was new. A lot of the buttons have leached silicon oil, necessitating opening the remote and cleaning them. I've seen this with many remotes, but it seems worse with this one. Firmware hasn't been updated in years. I get that it's not a current model, but I can't be the only one having these problems, so would've expected them to be addressed, at some point.

Re: Marantz AVR Stopped Recognizing Chromecast With Google TV
I also have a Fire TV and a Firestick 4k connected along with the Google TV and both of those have been working flawlessly with the Marantz (along with all my other input devices). The Google unit is the only problem.
I've tried the receiver reboot, unplugging and reconnecting and it didn't make a difference. Marantz tech service put in a little effort to answer my questions but after 3 back and forths they said "take the receiver to an authorized service center" so it's obvious they don't have an answer

If you have a reputable electroninc repair service in your area that you feel you can trust, give them a call, explain the situation to them, ask them if they think it's worth it to try to repair it. A locally (family) owned business typically prides themselves on treating people fairly, they may have an idea what it could be and be able to give you a ballpark estimate on what it might take to fix it. Might be worth a phone call.

My Marantz is generally finicky with HDMI sources, though it doesn't have any sort of "is it on?" message. I had to get an HDFury Dr. HDMI box just to get my HD-DVD player to work with it, and I can only have my computer plugged into one of the back connections as it won't work through the one on the front which I'd really rather use. Still love the sound on it though, and I mainly got it because it was the only brand that still had multi-channel analog inputs.
