Go ahead and put the movie titles guys. I mean I even put them with Shrek! There are a lot of movies out there that most of you have seen that I never have and it helps to know where they come from.

I have the same problem (it's version 4.0.13.2621 of PowerDVD, and came from Dell). Anyone know any (preferably free) programs that take decent screenshots? I can do it with print screen, but then when I paste them, they aren't quite how I want them (extra background).

Also, does anyone have powerdvd (not from Dell), version 4.0 (since that's what they're selling now) and know if it still includes this feature?

Mine is 4.0 and it has the capture feature. I know of people who used kazaa to get their version, not that i condone such behavior or anything.

If you're using Windows 98 or higher, you can take a screen shot of anything that appears on your monitor.

Just make sure to move the mouse off of the picture window, press "Print Screen" (PrtSc, etc.) and paste the image into any image editor where you can crop just the video window.

If you want to be a little fancier, you can press "Alt+PrintScr" and it'll capture whatever window the mouse is currently sitting on.

Just a helpful tip.

Oh, and when saving pictures, please save them in either .jpg, .gif, or .png formats - that way people who aren't using a Microsoft made browser can view them. Those bitmaps are HUGE, and don't work in every browser.

Wow, that shot from Requiem for a Dream looks like the end of Dark City. And Jennifer Connelly was in both films. Weird.

Anybody else noticing a pattern here? I guess you guys like guns, huh?

btw, that GODFATHER still has to be the most unflattering shot of Al Pacino ever.

Jough, that doesn't work because the decoded video stream from the DVD usually goes directly to video memory. Printscreen can only capture what is actually being rendered on the Windows desktop. Try using it to snag a screenshot of a Quicktime movie or DVD playback with Printscreen and you'll see what I mean

Rehevkor,

It works for me. I use PowerDVD which allows screen captures anyway, but PrintScreen works just fine for me in Windows 2000.

I press the print screen button, and nothing happens. I just put my mouse over the screen somewhere, and hit the button but nothing happens.

Printscreen copies what you see on the desktop to clipboard. You have to open an image editor (such as mspaint.exe) and paste the image into it.

I tried Printscreen with WinDVD platinum running and it copied everything visible, except the contents of the DVD frame were blank. Same happens when I printscreen a quicktime movie. I'm running windowsxp.

Doesn't really matter though, since windvd platinum captures frames just fine.

A few shots from FoTR:

Arwen makes her stand at the ford

Liv Tyler makes one hell of an elf. Pity her part in story wasn't very large, but that's how the book goes as well.

I'm surprised that no one has posted this one yet. Great widescreen photography here.

Santana got the titles correct.

And what is bugging me more than the non-listing of titles are screenshots of 2.35:1 films squished to 1.78:1. (Example, look at Lazyshu's BOTW screen capture and look at mine.)

If you people squishing the screenshots and are using PowerDVD, go into configuration -> general -> advanced -> capture -> captured aspect ratio -> current video window size.

Dark City (look, see, I put the title's name :-P)

Half of Dark City (taken from the pan and scan side)

This is why widescreen is better.

I guess I should say sorry there are so many, but I started with 52 and whittled it down to these.
All from Andrei Tarkovsky films:

Andrei Rublev

Solaris

Mirror

Stalker

Nostalghia

Sacrifice
