One and Only Star Wars Trilogy: Collector's Giftset DVD Announcement Discussion
It's official:
It's the big DVD announcement you've all been waiting for: Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox have announced the DVD Release for Star Wars Trilogy DVD on September 21st. This special 4 disc box set will include the three "original' Star Wars movies (Star Wars IV: A New Hope, Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi) presented in THX Anamorphic Widescreen and Dolby Digital-EX. Each film will be released in the 'Special Edition' version (including the changes made to the films for their theatrical re-release in 1997) and feature audio commentary by George Lucas and select members of the cast and crew. There will NOT be an option to view the films in their original theatrical version and the films will not be sold individually. In addition to the three features the box set will also feature a fourth disc including making-of documentaries and features for the 3 films as well as a 2 hour documentary including never-before-seen footage. Exact pricing for the set, specific disc extras and an official pre-order date to be announced in the weeks ahead.
That's right folks... we're the first DVD site to bring you official word on this, despite never posting a rumor for this set

I'll only buy it if Greedo shoots first. Han's a nice guy and he'd only fire back in self-defense. Plus, Han made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs...I think that's some kind of record.

Lets get this out of the way right now:
Blah, blah, blah, Lucas raped my childhood, blah, blah, blah, Jar Jar sucks, blah, blah, blah, episode 1 sucked ass, blah, blah, blah, Special Editions suck, blah, blah, blah.
Now - with all the detractor's arguments out in the open, lets get on to the goodies!

Would still prefer separate 2-disc versions to match up with Episodes 1 and 2, but I'll be getting this for sure.
Can't wait to hear what the extras are.

Not me,I have terrific self control & already have the original versions on laserdisc. So no need to rebuy the set if its SE only..& I just have to hope my laserdiscs don't rot. yet I would rather go the rest of my life,NEVER seeing the films again, than viewing SE only
May seem extreme, but then again I was always a more casual fan to begin with & have only seen the films about 5 times each in my entire life.
Yet the original versions were the ones I loved the most, but the magic was ruined in the SEs.
So you can add me to the 'honestly not buying' list if they are SE only. Now if they were the original versions, then of course I would buy them in an instant!
