Oh, and please don't flame me or criticize me for doing this. Everyone has the right to collect whatever they want. I also have a few hundred CDs that are unopened so lets not get started.
I am of the mindset like another poster also stated about not seeing the need to open something until you are ready to use it. Of course, if it sounds loose in the case, etc., I will open it to check it.
By the way, the best decision I ever made was never opening my original Salo Criterion, bought from Bigstar years ago for under $10 with coupons, and sold a few months ago online for $850 or so. If it had been opened, it would have been worth a fraction of that.

Plus, if you don't open the DVD, it's much easier to sell on ebay/half.com or you could take it back to a store around Christmas time for store credit if you no longer want the movie.
DVD collecting is an obsessive compulsive hobby for me. I love finding a great deal on a movie I like plus I need to buy stuff. It's my one vice since I don't drink/smoke/do drugs, etc.

None, Nada, Nein, Nil, Zip, Zero, Zilch....
I open in the car on the way home from B&Ms or as soon as I pull them from the mailbox at the house. Sometimes I just have to look at them.....
I probably have about 12-15 in my have not watched yet pile with another 5 or 6 Ive watched the movie but not all the extras.

ZERO! As MANY others have said, they need to be opened and inspected for damage, wrong disc, etc. I always try and watch them within a week or so too, for the same reason - 30 day return/exchange policy of most vendors! When I first started my collection I was like that - left them sealed until I would finally get around to watching them, but then I DID have a damaged disc, and found out the hard way about the 30 day return/exchange policy!! Since than I have had one more (boxed set) which had a defective disc, the vendor happily exchanged it for me.
So, I always open and do a visual inspection immediately!

Nope, even after getting burned with missing discs I still can't overcome my need to keep them wrapped until I watch them, with the exception of tv sets or more than 2 disc sets which I open as soon as I get home. I think it's the fact that in the wrapper they are still new to me or some other wierd thing, plus if you get stuck without a gift for someone then you always have a ready supply on your shelf.

The number of unwatched movies that some people have is crazy. I always rip the suckers open as soon as I get home......well, I use to buy every movie I wanted to watch but now I only buy the movies I really enjoy and that I will watch more than once............I have tamed my movie OCD.

Zero. I tear up the shrink and check for disc defect 1st thing I get home.
I have a feeling people who don't open their DVDs, hoping for them to to OOP, then they can sell it for big bucks on ebay.
