Very impressive. Care to share where you met each of them? I'm guessing you're in LA or NYC and attended various premieres?

Yeah, New York. Mostly from talk show appearances and screenings with a lot of patience thrown in.

That's awesome. Color me jealous.

Yeah, John C. Reilly, Paul Schneider, Wim Wenders, Sam Shepard, Charlize Theron, and Quaid all came from SXSW. I had a chance to get Dennis Quaid at his annual celebrity golf tourney last summer, but I found out that Stephen Root was there and wandered off to hunt him down (Office Space is one of my favorite movies, so I definitely wanted to meet him and get a signature). I figured I'd have to wait until this summer to have another shot at Quaid.

Is there a site or something that lists advance screenings where actors/directors/etc. will be present? I know it's probably unlikely, living in Orlando, but I'd like to know how you guys find out about all this stuff, just in case.

Was it Patron Tequila ? I think he is part owner of the company with John Paul Mitchell.

Late reply, but yeah she came out with a print of a wonderful little documentary that has gotten absolutely no attention. It's called East of Havana, and as far as I know it doesn't even have a page on the IMDB. I believe she was an executive producer on it.

She was the most graceful and professional Q&A panelist I've ever seen. It was definitely cool of her to come down.

A question for the collectors, how do you store these? Are they with your other DVDs or in a special display? I only have a few, but I just got Liza Minnelli on her Liza with a Z dvd and am now paranoid of storing it the wrong way.

When I had a few, I would store them "sig out" so the covers were visible. Looked nice at the time.

Now I'm up to 25 and I wish I had the shelf space to still do that. I now store them the usual way (spine out) but they are loose. Most of them have the sig on the paper cover, so the sig is protected by the plastic. A few aren't but since I store them loosely, there isn't an issue with rubbing... yet.

It's not the most ideal storage solution but I'm very careful with them if someone wants to see the covers.

btw, how's Liza?

That makes sense. All but two of my autographed DVDs, one being Liza with a Z, have the signature under the paper cover or on something on the inside. If I am careful, those should be ok in my regular shelves. The two that have no such protection due to the DVD box will just have to be stored signature out to ease my worried mind.

And Liza is small and beautiful and nice and funny and this is officially my very favorite DVD in my collection.

I think this signature might be the one to send me over the top and into sign my dvd please addiction. I am still so buzzed.

That's good to hear. I know she's having a signing in L.A. next month but it's just a tad far (plus it's a Friday).

Yep, pretty soon you'll be check out the sites that list signings or you can hit up a convention. I'm starting my countdown to July when Comic-Con happens. I usually wind up getting 4 or 5 DVDs signed. I'm still kicking myself from last year when I found myself next to Jon Landis but he took off before I could say anything.

I actually have six films with the signatures on the outside of the case (due to the fact that they're either a snapper or digipak, and there's no protective plastic sleeve). I keep them on my shelves as normal. Like Tom, I simply have too many to store them face out (up to 29 signed titles), and I 've only been at it since April of last year. I just try not to let them rub too tightly in the shelves. I can't wait to move into a more permanent residence where I can have enough shelf space to display them, but as it stands they're...well, in my stands like any other title (though they do have their own section).

Haha, that's the most entertaining part of the addiction! What sites do you use (besides the most well known, geocities site)?

The others I'll use are local sites: Newspapaper entertainment section and bookstore websites.

I believe it was posted somewhere back in the thread.... but here it is again:

Celebrity Book Signings & Events

This page gets updated every few days, so I'd check back often. Though it's mainly books, sometimes it's a DVD. Sometimes a celebrity will also sign another item if you get a book signed. At the bottom of the page is the list of upcoming conventions.

Thanks for the link, Tom.. Not much going on in Florida.. I have another link just for Florida events here, for anyone interested:

Florida Autograph Events

It looks like the site also has California, and Illinois events as well. So maybe that'll help out a couple other interested people as well. I'm currently up to eight autographs, but am always looking for more (especially when I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for them).

Appreciate the link, Shagrath. Unfortunately, the California page hasn't been updated in a year. But it's cool they keep Florida updated. Happy hunting!

Just wanted to give a head's up for August Underground fans. ToeTag Pictures is taking pre-orders for the 3rd installment of the AU series, August Underground's Penance. in an autographed version ("Snuff Edition"). Only 1,000 of these will be issued on April 5th. There will be an unsigned version available the same day.

Due to graphic images, I won't link to the page but just Google toetagpictures.
