Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced the director's cut of Daredevil which stars Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner and Colin Farrell. This brand new single-disc release will be available to own from the 30th November this year, and should set you back around $19.98 in total. The film will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen along with English DTS 5.1, Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Surround and French Dolby Surround tracks. The only extra material will be a new audio commentary by director Mark Steven Johnson and Ari Arad and a Making of the Director's Cut featurette. As for the director's cut itself, around twenty-minutes of additional footage has been added, bringing the total runtime to 124 minutes. I'm afraid the artwork has yet to be released, but we'll bring you that shortly. Stay tuned.

20 minutes? Up to 124 minutes. TC had run-time of 103 minutes.

Cool. No need to rehash the same ol' stuff from the first disc. The Hellboy DC could take a lesson from this one. SRP of $20 would come out to about $14 discount price, no?

i think some stuff is getting moved around as well. according to the commentary, the scene in the rain, right after that went the scene where matt asks "am i the bad guy?", but he wanted to move on to a love scene after the rain scene.

Well, as I recall from the director's comments way back when, this is only a director's cut in name only. It's not really his preffered version but rather a restoration of the first cut of the film (think Underworld Unrated Extended Cut). Therefor, the sex scene is out (it is exclusive to the PG-13 cut as it was requested by Fox after they felt the sanitized cut needed to be "steamier"), so are the confessions to the priest. Adult Matt's intro will be in the courtroom rather than in the sensory depravation tank, he leaves Elektra in the rain to beat up a guy that was beating on his son (this was somewhat reshot for the PG-13 cut to be about a guy mugging some guy who owes Kingpin money), etc.
So it'll just be an interesting companion piece to the first release but not the definitive cut of the movie.
Forgot to mention that another reason why this isn't really the preffered/definitive cut is because the director has gone on record to say he preffers the PG-13 version of the rain scene because Matt choses to stay with Elektra and he took the opportunity of having to redo the film somewhat for a PG-13 rating to add the scenes with priest that he felt added to the movie. So a real director's cut would have to be a mix of the R and PG-13 cuts.

There's nothing like the feeling of double-dipping a Ben Affleck movie.

He started talking about releasing his Director's Cut before the original DVD was released and he mentions this frequently during the audio commentary.
He also says that it is completely out of character for Matt to stay with Elektra and that he was forced to shoot that scene.
Look at the boards at www.superherohype.com - he posted there several times (and it was confirmed by the people running that site that it was actually him).

Fine work on the review. Much appreciated.
I think this one will be a rental-only for me - I was hoping for some extras.

A point of interest... it says "Spiderman kicked it off – its success paving the way for X-Men, The Hulk, The Punisher and various sequels either made or in the works, along with the upcoming Fantastic Four, Elektra and Ghost Ride" when X-Men came out first.
As for the extras... with the first release being so great, i'm glad they didn't just throw on the 2nd disc from that release here. It'll make both releases worth keeping.
