I don't know why many of you are complaining about the film!

Why did you go see it in the first place then? uh?

Many of you knew damn well who was the Director, Actors, Story, ect.. be fore seeing the film.

Is this the first time many of you going to double dip? I don't think so! Stop acting like such little boys and girls.

We all have been double dipping since we started collecting dvd's.

because a concept that has been in the works and have been on many forms of media including books and video games ended up not being so well on screen.

Why did you go see it in the first place then? uh?
Because I like both franchise a great deal and this was not either in the long run

Many of you knew damn well who was the Director, Actors, Story, ect.. be fore seeing the film.
Director yes, story yes, actors, it doesn't matter since Creatures should have taken focus. but with all those things there was still hope that it would atleast be enjoyable or entertaining.

Is this the first time many of you going to double dip? I don't think so! Stop acting like such little boys and girls.
Double dip? What the hell are you talking about? There will not be a "unrated cut" to this film because that's it as for footage that wasn't on screen.

The simple matter that the alien egg to full grown alien was sped up to 10 minutes is something that was just to much to handle.

We all have been double dipping since we started collecting dvd's.

The whole issue with the "sped up " alien birth rate makes some kind of sense if this was a training facility for Jr. Predators. I'm thinkin' that the Preds may not have had all the time in the world to do their thing so, they must have somehow accelerated the incubation process to fit their schedule. BTW, I thought it was a decent enough flick for what it was. Not having ever heard of this director b4 I had no idea how incapable he would ultimately prove to be. It's definately not on my list of top films for the year but, it does rate very highly on the popcorn-fun-silly movie list along with The Core, Timeline, Armageddon & Freddy Vs. Jason. Yes, it could have been awesome but it wasn't. I still had a good time though and have watched it twice already on DVD.

OK, let me try this again....

I got it! What they should have called this movie was just Predator 3. Then had the Aliens as kind of a "special guest appearance". Because look...in the first part of the movie, we had basically the Predators hunting the humans for their weapons. Well, we also had the Aliens hunting the humans for more warrior drones, but forget that for a moment.

Had the movie just been called Predator 3, been a little longer...oh, another 15-20 minutes or so, it'd probably been a great movie.

The setting may have also been a bit ridiculous. Had the location been the Egyptian desert or something similar, instead of Anatartica, it may have been more believable. Even something in the South American rain forest near Incan temples.

People expected far too much from this film. I keep my expectations low and when I used my free ticket I fell like I had gotten what I paid for.

Honestly there were only a few things I wanted from the film and they all seemed to happened which was enough for me. The movie was very short and I think that is my biggest complaint. I wanted more fighting and more action and just as it got good everything was over.

I went up and bought the DVD last night. The 2 commentary tracks sold me on it. I know another region got a 2 DVD set but I won't be double dipping in the future unless a different cut, which I'm not saying exists or doesn't, comes out.

Oh...and I just wish they would of had a better cover for the DVD. I've a fan of the Predator more than the Alien but I hate keeping those stupid slipcovers. They should of given us a cool cover and screwed the Fullscreen people over even more by giving them the shitty cover.

Others have brought this up. It's funny to me how people have a problem with Antarctica yet don't skip a beat about how this creature is suppose to survive all these years without food and exercise.

I didn't have a problem with Antarctica. Speaks to ancient creatures here at a time when our world looked different. What's wrong with that? Plus the Egypt thing with Stargate and The Fifth Element etc. certainly has been done.

Anybody pick this up at Best Buy yet with the extra booklet? Does it fit in the DVD case like other booklets do?

I picked it up at BB today and I have to say that the booklet is a nice touch! It's got great photos and some pretty decent text as well. I have'nt read through it as yet but for what it's worth, the first glance was killer!

The special booklet that is coming with this film at Best Buy doesn't go inside the case. It's a Best Buy exclusive and it's just behind the DVD case, only being held there with some very tight shrink wrap.

Sorry for being lazy, but there are just too many posts in this thread to look through them all.

Can anyone tell me how the "beginning never shown in theaters" is? Even a "spoilerized" summary would be fine (I doubt it will ruin anything for me).

The sci-fi showdown actioner "Alien vs. Predator" sold about 1.85 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday, its first day on store shelves, according to executives at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. While that figure doesn't set any home video industry records, it does mean that "AVP," starring Sanaa Lathan and Lance Henriksen, nearly matched its opening-weekend domestic boxoffice take of $38.3 million during its first 24 hours on retail shelves, according to industry sources.

yet besides the commentary tracks and fantastic DTS soundmix, the extras are somewhat lacking and a tad disapointing.

True. I followed this in another forum when the film came out. The first people that rushed out to see it hated it. After a few pages of those posts there was a significant backlash to the early posters to the extent I rarely see. My takeaway was that this film has truly polorized movie-goers with the truly passionate Predator/Alien fan expecting a lot more than was delivered and the popcorn movie crowd getting what they paid for.

Leno on the Tonight Show last night:

"Alien Vs. Predator, completely overlooked in Oscar nominations."

Just watched it.

Great DTS sound.....good story line. Only real complaint was the quick cut action style sometimes left me wondering what the hell was happening. Overall, though...great premise.

I'll rent it. There were some parts that I missed because I got beeped during the movie in the theatre.
