What's The Best DVD Bargain You've Ever Gotten?

What are the best DVD bargains and/or deals you've ever gotten? Where and when did you get them?

800.com's three DVDs for one cent was my second best deal. $150 in Amazon gift certificates for checking out a new website for five minutes was the best. :-)
I also bought a widescreen HDTV from 800.com for 1/3 the price at Best Buy. The deal included free shipping plus a $100 gift certificate, which I used for DVDs. My first 120 DVDs had an average cost of less than $1.

Other than the 3 for $1 at 800.com,

X-files season 1 - pre-order from CDNow for $7 and change shipped.

and I guess I will point out that there have been a dozen threads discussing this already.

The 3 for $1 at 800.com and the free DVD from Reel.com were the two best deals I think I received.

There was a buy 2 get 2 free deal at Media Play back in '99 and picked up some good discs back then when they were alot more.

At the time I started collecting DVD's, I was working at Columbia House (which also happened to be during the fledgling period of the DVD Club), and at their employee store, I purchased the first 40 DVD's of my current collection for $7.00 each.

This also happened to be during the period in which the Laserdisc Club was being phased out, and at the employee store, I purchased both Star Wars trilogy laserdisc box sets (original and SE) for $30 each. I re-sold them on eBay to a guy in London for $200. I also purchased the Fawlty Towers LD box set for $10 at the CH store, and re-sold it on eBay for $160.

Sopranos season 4 for 19.99 at Target with a raincheck. Employee error made the deal better than it should have been.

Most of my 60+ Criterions came from Half Price Books or CD Warehouse.

During the days of Reel, 800.com, Bigstar etc got many cheap using coupons etc

I wasn't around for the 800.com and such, so mine are more limited. Amazon's recent TV season sets for $14.99 ranks up there, though.

"Halloween" box set for 15€ in a supermarket (pricing error - should have been that price for just the first movie on its own).

Dazza.

Bought "The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" Extended Edition giftset at Best Buy for $28. Sold the bookends on eBay for $60, then bought TTT:EE for $20. So pocketed $12 after buying both incredible extended editions.

Bought "Star Wars" Trilogy at FYE for $35 (with rebate). Sold the 3 free SW posters that came with it for $35 on eBay, then went back to FYE and garnered another 3 free posters and sold those for $37.50, so pocketed $37.50 just for buying one of the most coveted DVD series in history.

I was at my local Gamestop two weeks ago with my brother, usually we just go there to get cheap N64 games, he went to look at them and I decided on a whim that I'd look at the dvds. Sure enough, I found an amazing deal, I found Silence Of The Lambs Criterion Collection for $7.99. Has all the inserts and is in great condition. Couldn't believe it.

Wow, that's even more impressive considering he died 30 years ago! Good find!
