I'm sorry if I missed this before, but is the "old Indy" stuff indeed gone?

Shannon- Where did you pick up your copy? I couldn't find it @ walmart or best buy. A shame the bonus features were poor.

I've been rather enjoying the documentaries and find them interesting, so I guess I don't think they're horrible.

Yes, it is. The only reason I was considering buying this is because, well, it's Indy. But then again, when you consider that the stories are pretty lifeless and dry, that with the exception of "Mystery of the Blues," no John Williams themes are used, that there's hardly any Indy-style action or fun, and now that they're incomplete with the exclusion of the Old Indy wraparounds...I think I'll pass.

Yeah, it's sad.. If all they had was the episodes the way they were broadcast (*with* old Indy) and no extras, I'd pick it up for sure! But since I can't replace my VHS tapes that I taped from the TV, I'll give this one an easy pass much as I do want it.

So what, when they get to the Harrison Ford episode, is he going to be cut out as well??

I actually hated the old Indy bookends. It really bothered me to see the great character reduced to crochety old man that no one listened to. I did pick up volume 1 yesterday and am looking forward to watching them with my daughter.

Well I'm pissed

I really enjoyed this show for what it was and was really looking forward to watching the episodes on DVD. I knew Old Indy was gone, so I expected that. What I didn't expect was that Sean Patrick Flanery was cut from the first episode! I haven't watched the rest of the set yet, but do not look forward to seeing what else didn't make it in.

I was looking over the package a few days ago and the biggest laugh is a tiny disclaimer on the back - "Some episodes may be edited from their original television broadcast."

All that stuff is still on the set. They just recut the episodes and arranged them chronologically, so the Flanery half of the first televised episode is on a later disc. It does make the first episode in Egypt end very abruptly, though - and we cut to an episode that was clearly shot much later, as the kid who plays Indy suddenly gets a lot older!

Found it at both my local Best Buy and Walmart. $70 and 80 respectively

finally found this today, and the packaging seemed cheaper than i expected. I expected a thicker cardboard, and even some embossed lettering.

TVshowsondvd.com is reporting that Volume 3 is being released on April 29th. More info including cover art here:

Hopefully, the 3 volumes have price drops soon.

Should be interesting. I've bought the last 2 on the release dates. They're pricey. However, they're just loaded with History features. I'm still trying to figure out why there's not a single doc on creating the "Young Indiana Jones series." On set etc.

That will be on the re-release.

I am not feeling the Carrier versions. Could someone please tell me what disc number Flannery makes his appearance in Volume 1 so I can get that straight in my queue. I would greatly appreciate it.

Spring Break Adventure ties in with the Egypt segment when Carrier notices the missing jackal in the tomb. I'd start there!

Just out of curiosity, I've been on an Indy fix with the hoopla starting over the new film. For whatever reason, I never watched this show when it aired. Has anyone recently started watching it due to the DVDs, and what do they think about it? Does it have enough of the "Indy magic?" I read the excellent reviews on this site, but with the price tag, I'm still on the fence.
