I'll buy both I'm sure.

If they're the same, I guess I'll just pick up Spider-Man 2 again.
I already have both comics, and I already bought the first movie 4 times (once by itself, then as a Superbit, then in the "Deluxe Edition" for the bonus disc, then as the gift set when it was on sale for $20 locally to get the Stan Lee DVD inside the set (which was more expensive to buy by itself)).
I just can't bring myself to by the same movie 5 times...

I'm in the same boat, but I've spent so much on that franchise so far, that another 12 bucks will hardly make a difference.
I'll probably go with Spider-Man 2 as well, since I've only purchased two versions of that (well, three if you count a bootleg).
I'll have to console myself with the knowledge that I've avoided TONS of other double-dips because my tastes aren't as wide-ranging as those of my fellow DVDTalkers.

Updated this week's list.
Also, I went to two Target's today and they only had the collector's edition w/ Full Screen copies. Anyone have any luck finding it in widescreen?
And also wik, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I'm thankful for this great community here.

DVD Talk Limited Edition
My target must have had about 200 FS versions and zero WS with the bonus disc.

We're talking about the movie though, all of the movies were full screen with the bonus disc. No WS movies with bonus disc. Somewhere I saw a list of what is on the bonus disc.
And a sidenote, my Wal-mart didn't have any bonus discs left that I could find. Was that official? Did anyone find them?

The reason this is so important is that I'll be driving past several WAL-MARTs on the way back home tonight, but I can't go to TARGET until tomorrow, and I'd rather not fight the crowds on "Black Friday" if WAL-MART offers a better bonus disc.

Where the HECK is Russell Hammond when you need him...
Anyway, for those of you who are curious about what's on the two "ICE AGE: The Meltdown" bonus discs and don't want to have to fight the crowds at both WAL-MART and TARGET like I just did, here's the scoop....
The TARGET disc does appear to only be available in the FULL SCREEN version of the movie, so for many, that clinches it right there. However, you may be interested to know that it contains two featurettes from the Fox Movie Channel (what, do they only give good reviews to movies that show conservatives in a positive light?). One is called "Premiere Night" or something like that, and I believe the other one was called "Evolution of a Scene" or something similar. Might be pretty good, but wasn't worth risking my reputation by being seen CARRYING a fullscreen DVD, much less actually purchasing one.![Wink](/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Another point against the TARGET disc is that it's sealed inside the DVD case, so unlike the WAL-MART disc, it does not have its own case, and I doubt they're using a 2-disc case (the movie is only one disc) just for the TARGET-exclusive version, so it's most likely floating free in some kind of paper envelope. The biggest issue is that of course you must open the case to get at the bonus disc, thereby rendering the product unreturnable, except the possible exchange for the same item, but be warned that savvy returns departments are now opening replacement product when you do such an exchange, so getting a sealed copy in return for an opened one is not always guaranteed. There is also the distinct possibility that given the special slipcover (read on...), the TARGET employee you deal with will most likely ask you what happened to the bonus disc.
One point that may be good or bad, depending on whether you prefer slipcovers to have the same or different artwork on them (see the recent thread on this), is that the TARGET-exclusive version has a not-at-all-bad-looking slipcover, if it weren't for the dreaded "FULL SCREEN VERSION" lettering at the top. That of course means you don't get the standard slipcover, but that may or may not be a problem for you.
The WAL-MART bonus disc comes packaged side-by-side with the movie in its own Amaray case, albeit a black one instead of the more appropriate white one the movie comes in. Be prepared to switch out the box anyway, because the security device is frickin' HOT-GLUED to the bonus disc's case, and since it's not shrinkwrapped, any serious effort to remove the security device is gonna really screw it up -- a damn shame since you've already paid for it, but not a big deal if you've got replacements around, or like me, you'd rather put it in a white one anyway.
The oval "WAL-MART-exclusive 2-pack" sticker might pull off some of the UV coating on the movie's slipcover, but the damage done to my copy probably had more to do with the fact that I was pulling the bonus disc straight out of the end of the packaging instead of opening the whole thing and gently separating the two first. It's pretty sticky though, so if you have to have a pristine slipcover you might want to pass on the bonus disc.
The contents of the WAL-MART bonus disc are listed as follows:
Turning Up The Heat featurette
Photo Hunt DVD-ROM game
Word Search DVD-ROM game
Music Video - "Real Love" performed by Lee Ryan (who the hell...?)
DVD-ROM activities
...so, as with many bonus discs lately (WM-exclusives especially), the bulk of the bonus content is just DVD-ROM crap. However, the back of the box lists the running time as 26 minutes, so "Turning Up The Heat" has to be at least 20 minutes or more. How it compares to the Fox Movie Channel featurettes (whether in running time or quality) I don't know, but for the reasons already stated I decided to go with WAL-MART on this one, which works out well, since TARGET won out with me when "Cars" was released, although they JUST NOW hauled out the lighted McQueen pins -- lucky I didn't really want one.
Having just checked TARGET's website, there's no listing for the exclusive version at all, and given that it has a different cover, I wouldn't risk buying the widescreen version online in hopes of getting a bonus disc with it, unless of course you don't mind having to return it.
I'll close by saying that I haven't had the chance to watch the WAL-MART disc yet, and certainly haven't seen the TARGET one. I'm up for a trade if anyone ends up with an extra TARGET bonus disc, but I don't have a heck of a lot to trade. Here's hoping I can spare someone the frustration of asking THREE times about a disc that's been out for as many days and hearing the proverbial crickets in response. DVDTalk indeed...

I am baffled by this web-board -- I have lost two usernames to it for no reason -- but I wanted to ask if anyone has the Target Inside Man bonus disc up for grabs? It sounded pretty substantial and now that I've missed my opportunity every time I look at the movie and think about buying I can't without the disc.
Also here are a couple of Wal-Mart DVDs that I have:
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit and
The Island
The Island has two short featurettes, one on stunts and the other on previs.
Wallace & Gromit has the complete set of "Cracking Contraptions", some games, and more -- it completes the DVD into the 2-disc set released in the UK. Best of all I still see it hanging around at most Wal-Marts so if you want it go look for it.
Also a couple other Wal-Marts I know existed:
Waiting... bonus DVD, (Circuit City had one too, forgot to look if it was on your list or not and they are both different it seems -- so if you're hankering for an LotR style set of the movie, ebay awaits)
War of the Worlds (2005) much like The Island DVD with the HBO special (not on the 2-disc LE) and a featurette on previs (IS on the 2-disc LE)
Also the SpongeBob DVD for Target has a "Spongebob and Patrick Confront The Psychic Wall of Energy" music video by The Flaming Lips and a making-of that video.
Lastly, CC also had an Apocalypse Now bonus disc for the recent 2-disc that contained: the alternate ending w/commentary and trailers from the older DVDs, and a featurette on the differences in Redux.
ALSO (keep typing as I think it) the Clerks II bonus disc at FYE and related outlets has extra "Train Wreck" webisodes on them. Not all of them are on the actual DVD release so if you are completist this bonus disc seems to be worth it -- too bad it's at a retailer that will likely have a higher price on DVD. I would rather trek to CC than FYE, although my local FYE is kind of awesome -- their stock seems to be from 1998 so more than a couple long OOP DVDs have shown up for no reason there.

Here's what's listed on the back:
"Symbiote Spider-Man: The Saga of the Black Costume" Documentary
"Making Comics the Marvel Way" Featurette
Hasbro's "The Origin of Spider-Man Origins Toys" Featurette
A Look at Activision's "Spider-Man: Battle for New York" Game
I haven't actually watched it, so I can't comment on quality. I will say that both discs are in Amaray cases and packaged side-by-side, although there's no sticker connecting them as there usually is. Both are individually shrinkwrapped underneath the main shrinkwrap, so if you're careful (hint: start unwrapping at the "bonus disc" end to avoid damaging the wrap on the movie DVD) you can "strike back" against double-dipping by returning the movie DVD, although I'd recommend removing the white sticker covering the barcode before you do. It's a dead giveaway that it's part of a set, and it should come off easily without ripping the shrinkwrap. They're gonna need to scan the barcode to return the DVD, so that sticker's gotta go if you want to do this.
As I'd feared when the STAR WARS DVDs came with a comic, this time it actually is just a DVD-sized comic, which you'll find where normal DVD inserts live -- under the literature tabs inside the case. Surprisingly, I find myself happy they did it that way instead of lamenting that it's not a full-sized comic.
Oh, and Trevor. Stop reading right now... don't read further! Hey, what did I say? Stop reading this! Okay, don't say I didn't warn you...![Wink](/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Strangely enough, even though it appears the content on both discs is the same, there are actually TWO different versions of the cover, at least on the back. I guess it's because the comic is actually inside the keepcase, but they show which comic you get on the back cover, meaning that which movie you buy the bonus disc with determines which comic is shown on the back cover. That could have been taken care of with just the sticker, but I guess they felt it was necessary to show it on the back, too. Okay Trevor, if you really want to, I guess you can go buy both so you'll have both comics and therefore both versions of the cover.

Okay, I got the "Spider-Man 2" version at Wal-Mart and can confirm that the content listed above is all on here plus the Spider-Man 3 trailer.
The main documentary is about 30 minutes long, with the "Comic Book" one being about 15 minutes, and the "toys" one being about 5-10 minutes at the most.
On a side-note, the reprint of Spider-Man #300 (when compared to the version in the "Spider-Man vs. Venom" Trade Paperback) is heavily edited (i.e. whole pages not reprinted) to cut it down to fit in the small number of pages left after the ads...
Now, can anybody verify that the content on the "Spider-Man" (1) version is actually the same thing rather than another packaging misprint like the X-Men 3 mistake?

Still, if anybody did buy "Spider-Man" instead of "Spider-Man 2", please post to let us know if the bonus disc is indeed identical.
P.S. If it helps at all, when Seinfeld Seasons 5 & 6 were released, WAL-MART had an exclusive bonus disc on each volume. It was shrinkwrapped to the back of each set, so the back cover had to match whichever set it was supposed to be attached to, therefore there were two different versions of the packaging, but the disc inside was the same, whether you got Season 5 or Season 6.

Darn, I read it....
Actually Mike, comics are my first passion, so I was going to buy both of them anyway.
Wow, this week was full of exclusive possibilities. I think I may be slowly kicking some of my OCDness, as I actually held off on buying a few things today on my weekly cruise.
Let me work on my weekly list now, sorry I'm late again.....

Yes, widescreen is available. My slip case has widescreen edition on the front top as well as on the keepcase.
Hope this answers your question.

The features on the Spider-Man bonus disc only focus on the comics, toys and video games.
The only mention of the movies was one of the artists taking credit for creating the "Mary Jane comes from a broken family" thing that the movie used from the beginning.
