Well here's something I didn't know until today.

For the last 20 years I thought Chop Top was the hitchhiker from the first movie. But apparently in TCM2, the hitchhiker is the corpse they carry around called Nubbins. I believe that's Nubbins on the original TCM2 poster as well.

I guess Chop Top was in Vietnam, so he was unable to make an appearance in the first film. (But his performance in the sequel pretty much steals every scene away from Leatherface!)

I wonder if this is an official fact according to Tobe Hooper, or if fans have been saying it for decades and now it keeps getting repeated around like it's true? I would be interested in knowing if Hooper has gone on record saying that those were two different characters.

The corpse is called Nubbins, but that's only by the cook (Jim Siedow) in one throwaway line if I recall correctly, so it's probably just a term of affection. And I remember reading in Fangorias from the time of the film's release that the corpse is indeed the hitch-hiker and that Chop-Top only missed the first massacre due to his proud service on behalf of our country. I can't remember if that information came directly from Hooper, from the screenwriter L.M. Kit Carson, or from Bill Moseley or someone, but it did come from people involved in the film. (A bit of trivia: the corpse puppet was cast from the body of Moseley himself).

I always knew Chop Top was a different person as the characters are nothing alike. I remember thinking it was the same guy for a few minutes and then figured it out.

Yeah, but the scene that really convinced me it was the same guy was when Chop Top cut his own neck. It reminded me of when his brother cut himself while hitchhiking in the van. Obviously, they're both into that stuff I guess.

The hitchhiker got ran over by the truck in the first film, and we saw him die. They are similar, but different characters.

I blame the cook for their need to self-mutilate.

Or their lack of a mother. What happened to her anyway?

The Nubbins corpse is indeed the corpse of the "Hitchhiker" from the first film. In make-up artist Tom Savini's book "Grande Illusions 2" there is a chapter devoted to TCM2 and Savini himself says that the corpse is the hitchiker's and that they were brothers..............................Larry

Whatever happened to that low budget Chop-Top movie "All American Massacre" that was filmed by Tobe Hooper's son?

Here's a link to a bit of information about this movie.

I'll quote this post from the re-release thread:

Since I'm picking up the new 2 disc of part 1, I'm also thinking of getting this DVD. [Rypro 525] How's part 2? Is It worth getting?

Gerry, the film is a black comedy. So be prepared for high camp/quirky/outrageousness instead of a scare factor.

It does have some disturbing moments though like the introduction to Chop Top in the radio station. Bill Mosely is just so disturbingly great in the role, that you know something is 'off' when he shows up and manages to be funny and creepy.

So if you can handle twisted sick satire and enjoy dark humor. You may enjoy the film and get what it's going for.

Yet it is a love it or hate it film,so until you see it. It's impossible to know how you will react towards it.

I'm disappointed they didn't use the Breakfast Club poster for the DVD Cover.

What a fantastically crappy new cover. These bozos will never, ever learn. Even the lone Dennis Hopper cover, is better than that.

I think the cover is pretty good and that Leatherface image gives me the creeps.
