The Mods will let us know when it is time to create a new one.
They have already merged what was Part 11 into this one because they did not see the need to create it yet.

if discussion is on topic and not off course there is really no reason for another. you just click the last couple of pages of a long thread to get the current. same as clicking a 1st page of a new thread. too many threads is clutter and uneccesary. the mods know their jobs and do it very well so no need to multiple posts telling them to do things, just write them an e-mail with your grievances.

In addition, you're the one who has started the new "parts" of this thread in the past, and now you're oh-so-against it?
FYI -- the shift key is your friend.

Mod note: EVERYONE, especially scott1598 and sabrett, please let the mods do the job of deciding when is the appropriate time to close threads and start new ones. For the record it goes by post count, not page count, and we usually try to keep them around 800. If you recall correctly the last one was closed early though because people kept complaining/bitching/arguing with each other... if you guys can't play nice together we'll shut down these threads entirely.
thx

Quite awhile ago, someone posted a pic of their tv cabinet where they installed red (IIRC) rope lighting underneath for some cool ambient lighting effect. I don't want to search through 10 pic threads to find it, but if anyone else has done that, please post. I'm thinking about doing something similiar and wanted a pic to show the wife what it would look like.

el wire is the name. Just do a little net searching and I'm quite sure you'll find plenty of demos for the wife. It's cheap too!!

Thanks for the compliments. I got the shelves at best buy, belive it or not. If i remember right, they were around $130 each (i have 3 there in the pic).
The furnature is from the stressless line by a company called ekornes out of Norway. It is available in the US at quite a few furnature stores, so just check out their website if your interested. I absolutely love the stuff. they do have some cinema seating set ups as well

EL wire is great, and there are so many uses for it. Just an FYI, you will keep finding places to put it. I am currently working on a project to put it behind each glass shelf, so that the shelf lights up. I will post pics when I am finished.

gijon, that's it. I checked out their website and it looks like the stuff is dirt cheap. Anything special about it? Is it basically super thin rope light that you just plug into an outlet?

Note: There are actually three wires in the EL wire; Your phosphor coated center wire, which is what emits light, and two tinny tiny copper wires wrapped around it. These copper wires are very small, so I would recommend a wire stripper so that you can strip the correct gauge of wire. This is the one I have ( I think, but the handles are blue) and they work well. If you have any more questions, please let me know.

Here is a picture of the current status of my collection while I await IKEA to get the bookcases in that I need.
If you ever wanted to know how many banker's boxes it takes to hold a collection of about 1,200 DVDs, the answer would be 30.
Once I get everything set-up, I will post new pictures.

Big Dave
what a depressing sight! My collection was in a similar state when i moved from Scotland back to the US. My shipment took 4 months to arrive on this side of the pond, but i had the forsight to have my DVDs shipped by air rather than sea (in place of those less important things such as clothes or cook ware). My poor DVDs were in boxes along the wall just like that.
