Figures.

But perhaps this is a sign that maybe they will come out individually at some point in the future?

They came out individually in R3 as well. I notice that DVDcompare.net states that the US Ultimate Edition DVDs are both R1 and R3 encoded, and also have the appropriate Asian subtitles:

This is a trick Sony has done in the past, notably with the Superbits, so that they don't have to press two different discs for different regions. Someone mentioned in the boxset thread that the UE discs contain the Sony copyright, since they were mastered by Sony before Fox got the video rights to the MGM catalog.

I found a site that carries the R3's from Taiwan, all 20 films individually for about $12 each.

007 James Bond Ultimate Editions: $12.13

Shipping's fairly expensive on the site though, even just Airmail. The covers also have Chinese writing on them, although that could be just a slipcover.

Keep in mind I don't know for sure that the Taiwan DVDs are the exact same discs as the US and R1 encoded as well. However, I do think there's a very good chance they are.

ETA: OK, I just noticed that the US and TW releases differ in subtitles and audio slightly, notably that the US release has French dub and sub, while the TW has Portuguese. So they're not the same disc. The dual-region Superbits had the exact same audio and subtitle options in both regions. Now I'm trying to figure out why the US DVDs are R3 encoded.

Still, the TW discs might appeal to someone multi-regioned who doesn't want PAL discs, and there's still the outside chance that the TW release is R1 encoded as well.

Individual Movies Available

Hi all,

Looks like they released some of the Bond movies individually - does anyone know if they'll release all of them?

They only have the movie - not the bonus disc.

Just resurrecting this thread to inquire: They've now releaed pretty much every Bond Movie as an Ultimate Edition single disk except OHMSS? Anyone know if these are due soon?

In Canada I regularly see the latest versions of the Bond films in the bargain areas of HMV - 2/$20, that kind of thing. I think OHMSS was in the stack.
