I guess I'm somewhat excited about the idea of an SE of this movie, but I'm with everyone else. If MGM isn't going to include all the extras that are just laying around somewhere unused, what point will there be to pick this up? Normally I ignore the multiple releases that a lot of DVDs get but when it's something like ROTLD that I really love, it's hard to not at least consider buying it.

Well until we know for sure what those special features are (as in a complete listing) then there's not much point in debating if it should be bought again. We only know of a new commentary and interviews so far. I'm a little surprised MGM hasn't officially announced this yet even though it's up for pre-order now.

The new RETURN disc includes the previous 1.85:1 transfer with mono sound, the bonus features from the original disc plus some new ones (starred below). The complete rundown:

• Audio commentary by director Dan O’Bannon and production designer William Stout
• Audio commentary by the cast, crew and undead*
• RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD: The Dead Have Risen featurette*
• The Decade of Darkness featurette*
• Designing the Dead featurette
• Zombie Subtitle Stream*
• Bloody trailer
• Even bloodier trailer*
(thanks to Fangoria.com)
Eh.....not TOO horrible.

While these new special features are pretty good, I will most likely pass on this version seeing as there is a plethora of goodies that are just sitting there in a vault waiting to be released in a third version.

Now if the original audio has been restored, I MIGHT be tempted to get this one if the price is right.

Love this movie, but I already have the last release w/the glow cover; the new stuff is not enough for me to upgrade.

The version shown On Demand recently had the original music and effects mix intact. Will this be the version that makes it to dvd? I hope it does, since I can't stand the remix on the previous release!

Cooler cover, but it's not a Blu-ray. I hope people aren't buying it expecting it to be one.

I like the US cover better. The added zombies on the other version look tacky to me.

How's this for strange? I pulled my copy of ROTLD off the shelf last night and discovered that the cover had started eroding! It looks like they coated the paper with some kind of gloss in order to make some of the images (as well as the title on the spine) have a raised 3D appearance (relief printing, I believe it's called). Anyway that coating had started bubbling and cracking, eating away a lot of the image underneath. I don't know if all the ROTLD covers were printed like this or not, but those of you who have the relief style prints might want to check yours. In any case it makes the double dip a complete no-brainer.

Really? I doubt it. Up until now, most of your posts were just ads for your website. You never seemed to post any actual information here.

Whatever.

You doubt what? That Tripod doesn't allow linking to pics/graphics it hosts? Go back and look for yourself pal, it's pretty damn obvious.

I post info, just not *everything* on here. If I did that then what the hell is the sense in even having a web site in the first place? Why the hell is it such a problem for you to click on a link? Do you want me to hand write all the news and personally deliver it to your doorstep? Look, if it's such a hassle for you then just wait until news and info trickles out to other web sites and learn about it then.

Yes, whatever indeed.

My copy is the same as yours. The mohawk and afro on the two zombies on the cover are raised, as well as the logo/title of the movie.

No bubbling, cracking, or eroding on mine though.

I doubt that you would have posted that picture here, even if you could. All you ever do is post ads for your website, even when all you have just a scrap of new info. It's a pain to navigate that crap website, especially when the info could be summed up in a couple of words.

"Dan O’Bannon farts. Click here for my description of the aroma."

Pass.

Tripod clearly does not allow linking of that nature. But, with all due respect, would using something like ImageShack be so difficult?

Providing links to other web sites is fine. We all do that when we post news about upcoming releases. But, again with due respect, I must agree that your site is cumbersome to navigate. Organizing the latest information at the bottom of the page is not particularly efficient. Go to any of the DVD sites usually referenced here. All will show the current news right at the top, and on the main page. No digging through links required.

Overall, a redesign would be a good idea. Just my opinion.

Like I said, don't like it? Don't come. Nobody puts a gun to your head. You have some kind of grudge and that's fine. You can go find another site to complain about now but this conversation between the two of us is over in the interests of keeping this thread alive.

I should create a new account at Imageshack Just for this particular thread?

Well you have a point about the "bottom of the page" thing but overall I'm not understanding how cumbersome it would be to go to a site, see the section called "news" and click on it. I'd hardly call it "digging through links" but I appreciate your constructive criticism and will take it into consideration at the next update.

Weird. I have the same cover. I'll have to check it out when I get home. However, my 2 -1/2 year old daughter is facinated with this DVD case for some reason... she keeps telling me she wants to watch it. She grabs the case and hands it to me to play so if I saw any erosion, I probably would have assumed that she did it.
