Best I can recall it was a foreign auction some months back.

That's about the info we've gotten about them, though someone did post an excellent photogallery of the Megatron.

I can't keep track of the different versions/exclusives. Is there a fairly complete list somewhere?

I was wondering that too. I want to be sure to get the best version, complete with a steelbook if possible, and am at a loss at this point.

Pic of ad for Transformers: Beginnings DVD at Wal-Mart

I don't like the way it's worded. I think the exclusive DVD may only come with the single disc version of the movie. Knowing Wal-Mart they'll probably be shrink wrapped together so we can at least return the single disc edition.

Just went by my local video store and they had, to rent, the one disc version of Transformers, so naturally, I rented.

The outside cover art is even hotter up close. I just love it. The great thing about this edition is that the amray case is clear, like the 2 disc 20th Anniversary set of Transformers The Movie. And like that set, there is reverse/inside cover art of Sam, Mikela, Lennox, and Tyrese's character (forget the name) in the middle of the destruction of downtown Los Angeles. It's pretty fantastic looking.

I'm still buying the HD-DVD version but this cover art is the best. I might have to make some type of hybrid set just so I can have this cover art.

Yes

If I do end up getting a steelbook, it's going to be the Decepticon version for sure. But the talk a couple of posts up about a transparent amaray with a cover insert that has artwork on both sides makes me think about just getting the regular 2-disc edition. At least it will match the style of the animated movie release. If the steelbook is just a plain black/metallic with the logo on the front and not much artwork going on inside, then I might just go for the regular release.

Nope. I would if I could. ^^

BTW, the BB gift set is off of their website for now. For some reason all versions are off FYE.com . Eh, maybe they'll put it back up with the steelbooks added this time. And Wal-mart's site lists thier version as an exclusive 2-pack.

whats the matter gerry, you don't trust me!

for those of you interested in the steelbooks at fye, they are limited like woah. My store is getting 6 of each, I anticipate all will be preordered. This may explain why they are not on fye.com now.

My Suncoast said they're getting 10 of each, maybe he meant 10 total. Are they going to stop taking preorders once they reach 6 preorders? Because it'd suck if the people that preordered don't get a copy.

... of course I trust U, Buddy. With everyone here freaking out about, "Is it a tin? or Steelbook?" I just wanted to make sure so I could back U up.

Anyway fuck only 6!!! Shit I hope I get mine. I'll prob-ly won't be able to get there until 6pm or so on release date. Damn!

[BTW, check out the new interviews on the Metallica thread.]

I would hope so, but that would count on the mangers checking the allocation. And based upon the feedback I here each week about the local fye they shop at i wouldn't count on them doing so.

If you do reserve it, they have an obligation to hold/get you a copy one way or another so I wouldn't fret too much about it.

i pre-ordered both also i was planning to just get the autobots... but at the last minute i also decided to get decepticons... dunno if i'll actually keep both, but i wanted to be able to have them both reserved especially since they're supposed to be crazy limited. that way, i can also choose which one to keep and return/sell the other one...

Just curious, so no flaming, why is everyone getting the two different steelbooks, when BestBuy is going to have a steelbook with both logos (one on each side)? Or am I mistaken on that info? Again, I respect you guys buying both, but was curious.

I preordered both on 9/18, the only talk Ive heard about steelbook editions is on DVD Talk, I wont be able to get to the store till around 1 after I get out of work (Im going to BB during work for Planet Terror), so Im crossing my fingers that they will honor my preorder and put some aside.

I saw a tv ad for the Transformers dvd release yesterday, and it showed the artwork for the 1-disc DVD and the HD-DVD. Interestingly enough, the HD-DVD artwork (which AFAIK is the same as the 2-disc DVD artwork) is still just the plain white background with the side-profile of Optimus on the right and the sideways Transformers title on the left. I thought this was only placeholder art, but apparently its final. I wonder why they didn't at least fill in the background the same as it was on one of the movie posters.

Yeah, I'm confused about this as well. Will BB have a steelbook, or only toys?

So far I think it was only rumored. The giftset is for sure that BB is going to have.

The pic from the US BB site just shows the normal special edition with what looks like Robot Heroes toys.

Even the close up pic from BB. Ca only mentions 'Exclusive Gift Set. Two Disc Special Edition Dvd. Exclusive Transformers Book. Action Figure.' No mention of steelbook.

I'm getting it anyway, not expecting a steelbook so it's no biggie. I'll have to make due with the FYE Decepticon one. ^^V

From page 4:

2disc Steelbook (Decepticon/Autobots) back-to-back emblem cover (?)

Exclusive Gifset (confirmed from Bestbuy)
