I just picked up my steelbook. Looks awesome to me.

I just thought I'd let people know that besides the $5.00 rebate, you can also try to get one of those $4.88 movies for free. It worked for me at least.

For those that got the steelbooks, did it seem like they had a lot in stock?

I was going for the Target disk but decided to hit the mall across the street for lunch, and on the off chance they had an FYE store. *Ding!* So steelbook for me. They had one on display, and about 15 or so stacked behind the counter. Don't know if it was to prevent hording, or if the clerk was just unpacking them. $21, plus the $5 rebate receipt.

Sucks that the 'exclusive' Target artwork comes on a seperate sheet. But I guess its easy enough to just slip it under the plastic case cover. Damnit I wish studios would take a hint from US anime companies a couple of years ago and do double-sided cover art. One with, and one without quotes.

They had about 10 on display at my FYE. The cashier said he had lots more in the back so I would guess there is a decent supply out there. I've never had trouble getting a steelbook at FYE the first couple of weeks. But I would get it this week for the $19.99 price. It's regularly priced at $26.99. Plus you get the rebate and possibly the free movie.

Haven't the foggiest what Borders exclusive is, other than the fact that there is one.
Stopped in to make the most of the current 40% off coupon; while I was there, I swung by the new release section to check out the exclusive booklet. It's not inside the packaging, but sealed to the back a la Stardust's exclusive (not a smaller insert booklet like Pan's Labyrinth). It does look kinda nice, though all I could see was the spine and the cover that simply states the film's title.

Maybe the store here is different, but the steelbook cost me $21.59.

That sucks. They were all $19.99 at my store.

Edit: Actually reading other people's comments, it sounds like it might depend on the store. My FYE usually sells their steelbooks at the same price as the regular version. But I've heard of people paying more in the past and with this release, so it probably depends on the store. Either way, I'd jump on it the first week to get the rebate and movie.

Here in Canada, the regular version was on a 1 day only sale of $19.99, with a bit more for the version with the Party Mix CD.

I got the steelbook at Future Shop like many of the other Canadians here in the thread, and for $24.99 I found it to be worth it purely for the lack of bilingual nonsense, limited only to the paper back cover insert.

I managed to get the Steelbook today at about 4 pm. My friend was supposed to pick up two copies at his local FYE, but the guy in front of him bought the last 10 copies. They really need to put some kind of limit on these things.

Are there any more exclusive in the US?

Geez, for some reason.. The stores I stopped by it seems I got lucky to obtain the last one in stock...

Contrary to what other members state what they saw on stock at their nearby stores.. the ones here around Los Angeles were mostly the regular version.

What exactly is that on top of the cover of the Target Exclusive? Is it just a one sided paper?

Pretty cheap if its supposed to be an alternate cover art...

Future Shop's supply was small compared to other Steelbook releases. I went there after work and they had nine copies left.

Wal-Mart Canada had a exclusive music CD, similar to xage's picture of the Target exclusive music CD.

I'm going to check out Best Buy Canada tomorrow, if I have time.

Did anyone see anything special at Costco?

The FYE I work at got 6 steelbooks and 7 regular copies. 2 of the steelbooks were pre-ordered, and held back at the counter (mine was one of them), while the other 4 were put out on the floor.

Our store has them on sale for $19.99 (I have a Backstage Pass, too, so I got it for $17.99, including the $5 put down to pre-order), with a $5 mail-in rebate.

My friend at Best Buy said that they barely sold any copies of their exclusives, so I might try to head down there tomorrow to get the copy with the bonus disc, and then sell off the regular DVD.

Is this supposed to have a slipcover? My copy from Amazon today did not.

None of the copies at Best Buy had a slipcover. I got the steelbook from FYE, but their standard editions didn't come with a slipcover. I think Target had a slipcover (or alternative artwork) though, came with the Bonus CD or something.

You would think that FYE would have a standard price for their releases.... I guess that is what I get for thinking.

Anyway it was $21.59 ($19.43 after Back Stage Pass) at the FYE in Lynnwood Wa. Plus the $5 rebate.

I hadn't seen this before today, but went out on a limb and got the steelbook at FYE. Really enjoyed the movie. Thought it was very well done, and Hud was absolutely hilarious. He definitely made the movie. I have the Best Buy Bonus Disc too, Hud's Diary, so hopefully that has some good stuff on it.

Hey Droidguy. Sounds like we went to the same store.

So any clues on where to find more Easter eggs? So far I've found the 'bag'em and tag'em!' helicopter, and the live 'X' footage of the parasite attack.

And you know nine of those are going straight onto Ebay.

People like this deserve a swift kick in the nuts.

I thought about buying an extra copy and selling it on eBay, but decided against it. I'd rather let someone else get it than take advantage and sell it for a high price on eBay.

But as far as the easter eggs, I found those three and another one:

Spoiler:
Go to Scene Selection. Select 13-16. Wait there for about a minute and twenty seconds. Scene 17 will appear. You have to navigate around it a little, I think only three of the "file names" actually work, and they in turn have extra videos. One file is four different news reports from around the world. Another contains these home videos a girl was making for her boyfriend, and it seems to provide some possible background on the monster. Another one has something to do with Slusho.

EDIT: Also, if you want more behind the scenes videos go to http://www.cloverfieldfiles.com This site has fifteen videos that you can view after completing various puzzles (they aren't that hard if you've seen the movie).

I pre ordered my steelbook 2 weeks I think. I went to pick it up last night and I heard the guy say to the girl, I forgot to pull them last night. He went to the shelf and pulled and said it was the last one. He also said they only got 2 in. I didn't make a stink about it but if it was out of stock I would have.
